I too have always wondered about the lack of stories where Rin runs away and it's great to finally find one, especially since you also touch on the issue of lies and broken trust and the ways in which Rin was genuinely wronged without also demonizing (ha) Fujimoto and the others. Hope you come back to this someday.

The long-awaited build-up of this chapter is quite solid!

I haven't read blue exorcist fanfictions for a year and boy am I rewarded with this good, long chapter today. I can't express much as language is not exactly my forte.

I will welcome long chapters anytime as long as it is good! This chapter is a journey of how he stumbled into this job and the start of a new arc of Rin's life. I can't wait to read on and discover how Rin will adapt to the village, with his heart being so kind and the complex issues he have. Oshima seems like a good guidepost too. Probably the inari foxes too. Then probably how he deals with his emotions, fears, nightmares etc. Ah my head has now filled with so much ideas and possibilities but in the end this is your work. Do write it the way you want to.
