Ah yeah! I've been waiting for what the new movie would inspire you to write!

Poor little Peter :(

I absolutely adore his relationship with Yondu, especially after the new movie omw. And you write it to well too! Great work! :)
Strawberries and Cyanide chapter 1 . 5/24/2017
YES. I didn't know I needed this in my life, but clearly I did! I love your interpretation of Peter and Yondu's relationship, and his relationship with the other Ravagers. Yondu does have a heart, but he's also a murderous space pirate. Plus, he knows that coddling Peter isn't going to help him stay alive- and at the end of the day, keeping Peter alive is what's most important, not the child's emotional well-being. I also loved how scrappy and tough you made Peter. He's still a kid, and that entails a certain amount of vulnerability, but he doesn't let that stop him from doing everything he can to survive. I can definitely see him acting this way.
In short, your characterizations are totally on-point (as usual!), and your writing is superb! Keep being awesome!

good story
Anony-moose chapter 1 . 5/24/2017
Ouch. But well done! This matches what we see of the Ravagers in the films. The treatment of little Groot, in particular, sprang to mind, which I admit was a scene, if it were up to me, that I probably would have cut.

Yondu might have a soft spot for Peter, but that can't re-write the characteristics we've already seen on full display. Yet somehow, most people online seem to have forgotten a lot about Yondu after the end of the second film. Sure, he was somewhat redeemed, but they dismiss the fact that, for Peter's entire childhood, any gentle feelings Yondu may have had were carefully hidden, due to the cut throat nature of the Ravagers. In fact, I'm absolutely sure there are times when Yondu made a point of being nasty to Peter, to displace any suggestion of favoritism. (Much like the way Rocket is generally nasty to people- and verbal abuse still counts as abuse.). However you look at it, Peter had a freaking hard childhood! By any modern standards, he was horribly abused. The incredible thing about Peter is that, like Yondu says, he's a fighter. I think Yondu admires and relates to Peter's ability to hold his cool and think creatively even while (or especially while) someone is about to kill you - but it doesn't change the fact that he put Peter through hell. So...I can't say this story filled me with joy to read, but at least it's good to Find somebody else who, after seeing the second film, came out of it thinking along the same lines. Yondu's an interesting character! But he's not a saint, far from it. Thanks for being clear headed about it.

Honor Reid chapter 1 . 5/22/2017
This was such a well told story. Poor Peter having to deal with the crew on top of mourning his mother and the loss of his life on earth. I like how Yondu and Kraglin helped Peter learn to defend himself.

Thanks so much!

Like the chapter. It does seem like that would be a way to earn a jacket. Wish you would right more on this. Yondu seems to play the dad role without realizing he does.

I'm upset that there isn't more, and your story doesn't have the love it deserves.

Liked it! I've always envisioned this is how it was for Peter when he was first taken. Thanks for writing and posting! It was really a good read! :D Kudos! Err, ya know what I mean, lol :)
