you've mentioned a fair few times that Akihiko was resurrected with eight/multiple knight pieces, it's obvious that you mean pawn pieces but if you could double back and edit them it would make the beginning of the story flow better

you also have this strange way of introducing characters, almost as if you are reading their facebook page though mostly focused on how they look with little care for who they are.

both these things make your story seem very artificial and distant
