The White Leopard chapter 10 . 4/7/2018 So. This was quite unlike anything I have ever read. And it was incredible. Couldn't stop reading it. Really not sure I have the words to properly describe it. But! I think all the mythological elements were among my favorite bits. I'm a sucker for the mythology, even mixing cultures. Your finesse in showing Ryder's too-great power was flawless. Though I'm pretty sure I saw things more from Reyes's starry-eyed viewpoint than the scary monster point of view. But hey. She is the hero. The whole Osiris/Isis bringing Reyes back from the dead thing was definitely unexpected, but a fitting culmination of Ryder's power. She let go of her power and restored balance both among people (by essentially making herself a mere mortal) and within society at Kadara. Plus, Reyes. I do love a happy ending. There were three points that I am a little fuzzy on, but that could well be because I read them sometime well after midnight. Would have to go back and check. But for the record, they are 1) Keema hid the child murderers from Reyes in an attempt to...draw Ryder out and see her dead because she was too powerful and Keema thought it would blow up in their faces worse than she was making it if she let things go on as they were? Is that right? Not 100% on her logic. 2) Did we ever decide if there was an actual source for the Green Man imagery or is it was more of a group consensus thing? 3) I get that SAM remaining connected to a Pathfinder would be too much for the human body to take, but I'm fuzzy on why Reyes can sustain a link. Is it simply because the link is of a different nature? Or less involved? Oh, and making it so everyone was not out to kill Reyes on sight after the great lie that he was behind everything must have been fun. Lol. Wonder if they made Tann fix it. Anyway! Excellent writing. Amazing story. Fantastic plot. Thank you for sharing this with us. |
Guest chapter 3 . 1/18/2018 The plural of phallus is phalloi. Something I learned while studying ancient Greek theatre and the festival City Dionysia. The Athenians were kind of obsessed with phalloi. |
