Oooh how meaningful is this! I love it! And honestly, if the actual Ran is like this, I definitely like her a little bit.. Ever since I read Detective Conan when I was just a teeny-weeny 5th grades, and in my country DC was just released and up to its 12 volumes, I was kinda thought and felt, "what the purpose is this girl (Ran) here? An 'arm-candy'?" Of course my innocent-self that time didn't knew what an 'arm-candy' real mean is (and English wasn't my first language too), but if my now-and-then feeling and thinking about Ran is just that.. She is just an 'arm-candy', just like Ayumi too in Detective Boys, created for just cuteness and aesthetic, but lack of purpose and meaning.. Wow, how to-the-point bordering rude I am hahaha..

And then the 18th volumes was published and I felt that the true heroine finally came.. finally! And please all of Shin-Ran diehard fans out there somewhere (Aoyama-sensei includes) put your hand in your heart and please admit sincerely and truthfuly, 'didn't DC's stories get more interesting and have more dimension after Ai Haibara appearance?'

I think the end of DC should be like this, definitely! From Ran's perspective, as how she really looking into the Shinichi who leave her behind in the Tropical Land and the Shinichi who comes back, so his 'adventure' as Conan won't be meaningless and indeed makes some changes in Shinichi..

I love this simply yet beautiful Shiho/Ai & Shinichi/Conan. The fact that you wrote things that changes Shinichi is so accurate since I noticed the same things while watching the show. I am a fan of Ai/Conan, I can see that they are close and has this bond that no one has. The Sherlock and Irene/Watson. Those changes is probably what I want to see once Conan regain back his form because that means there is a character growth. But I am nervous what Aoyama will do for Ai since she has no ship other that Conan. I like how tan was understanding and how she listen to that voice. And the unspoken revelation about who they really are.

I love how both realistic and respectful this story is. Realistic of just how much Shinichi HAD to change through being Conan, and how respectful of Ran and their long-term bond, especially the bit where they remain such close friends after their romantic relationship ends (because honestly, even in the canon, Ran and Shinichi's 'true love' seems to be more a matter of the people surrounding them than their own admitted feelings). And I loved how Ran figured out the truth about Conan and Ai... and told Shinichi all about it! (talk about being hit with a clue brick) And the bit at the end, where Ran seeing them together helps her figure out the other truth about Conan, because if anyone deserved to know, it was Ran.

I have to say that this is one of the best fanfics of conai/shinshi I’ve read so far. It is really interesting to see how things progressed in Ran’s eyes and how she figured everything out with only those small interactions she saw between the couple. XD

i read this fanfic for the third time now and this story never fail to amuse me and i just realized at the end that ran actually found out that shinichi is conan and shiho is ai that's why she ran back to sonoko to ask about the money cause she won the bet

I would like to make petition for this fic to be the canon ending for Detective Conan. but we know gosho wont listen to us. I love how some shinshi fics do justice to Ran. I mean it's ok if you ship shinshi/coai but Ran deserves some developement with her understanding what was actually going on and changed shinichi. anyway you did great job and keep this ship sailing in fanfiction world ofc xD

Yknow, this is what I imagined the ending if the writer really wanted to adopt "developments" and "people change" into his story. Shinichi and Ran should be together, only to find out that they are not for each other, and by release all the emotions they had, like stated in your story, they would relieve themselves and find peace. It is a great story! I'd love to suggest if you would write from Shinichi's perpective how he realized that Ran is not the one. Thanks!

I love itttt! Thank god Ran rejects Shinichi's proposal and unconsciously open his eyes for what actual love is. I'm wondering how does Shinichi convince Shiho to accept his love?
After so many years personally hearing Shinichi declaring his love to Ran and how awesome Ran is and how she should be like Ran (like be more out going and less sarcastic), Shiho would feel wary if suddenly Shinichi ask her out. She might thinks that she's a rebound to him after Ran rejects him. I dearly hope that Shiho give Shinichi a hard time before accepting his love!
Serves him right for being too oblivious and too convinced that Ran is his true love.
