Poison ivy is not native to Japan but it is part of the Toxicodendron genus which has many plants that produce similar alergens. In the case of Japan thay have the Lacquer tree and Wax tree which belong to this genus and are used to make the products of the same name. I have no idea if they produce any alergens though. Good story so far though. Keep it up
