this isn't about the actual story but your answer to one of the reviews, thank God your not adding any romantic subplots they always seem to consume the story and change a great story into a soap opera that was a great decision on your part

Anyway, I think I'd prefer the 2nd option simply to keep prior events "fresh" so to speak, especially for new readers. Though if it's not that far away, it could probably serve as a flashback but I'd still go for the 2nd option for chronological order's sake.
