Reversal? Hmm, I'm not really sure if it's canon or fanon you're talking about when Aoko cares for Kaito, so this is a reversal. But, a great story nonetheless! Rice porridge is a really different concept in our country - preferring to be sweet with only milk and rice and sugar as the ingredients - but I really enjoy those stories that people put an extra bit of effort in, to find the Japanese version of things.
