Great job; This story really made my day!

I yelled in the tumblr post tags but I shall yell here too. This was fantastic and I loved it. Your characterization for everyone was on point, especially Sumeragi, Tieria, and Neil. I love how you used the game to explore the relationships between everyone, and how you used it to increase tension. The betting was 100% in character, and hilarious, and then you turned it into a character and plot thing. I am just forever impressed by how skilled you are at portraying subtle bits of character interaction. This was absolutely what I wanted from a second chapter of this fic. I'm so glad you could post it!

I really enjoyed reading this :) I think you got the characters pretty spot-on, and this banter I could definitely imagine in the first season with Tieria being stuck-up as he is. I really love how rational you made Sumeragi too, and this chess battle would be a sight to see! I could already imagine the bridge crew and the meisters surrounding the two of them as they have this 'battle,' lol. Thank you for sharing this!

I'm going back and trying to review all the fics I didn't review during 00 week-it got so busy back then-and, goodness, this was such a lot of fun. I feel like you really capture S1 Tieria's arrogance and also his ignorance-he really doesn't realize when he's the one making a mistake, and it's perfectly in character. I also love the way you write Ms. Sumeragi's exasperated patience with the way he keeps lashing out. So yeah, the characterization is perfect, but also, just the entire premise, a chess game for command of Ptolemy, is so delightfully silly and yet something Ms. Sumeragi would definitely do. I would love to see more of this fic, eventually, if you have time to write it. But just what you've written so far is pretty dang amazing.
