Reviews for USS Enterprise: A Linguist's Proposal

I really enjoyed reading this and I can't wait to see what comes next!
WeAreIslands chapter 20 . 10/6/2018
at last, the linguist's proposal! :DDD I have to say your spock and nyota are as subtle cute and dignified as the movies version is, and all their little emotional moments of cuteness make me want to see even more of them and kind of intrude in their privacy a bit! LOL I hope they can manage to have children if they want that too since, after all, his parents could; they'd make amazing parents as challenging having kids in their circumstances, as starfleet officers, can be. I find it cute and kind of fitting that their 'engagement ring' essentially is him giving her a necklace and her giving him a ring. Both with a clear sentimental value.
My favorite part also is the one in the observation deck. A very honest conversation that added a lot of details and depth to what happened before. His explanation in particular is touching and made me think about how it might as well be one of the reasons that made Spock have that moment of uncertainty in Beyond. Maybe he was insecure, they were both stressed and tired by space, and without realizing he did that very human thing of accidentally testing your partner to get evidence that you still mean something to them and they still want to be with you, but it backfired because instead of her asking him to stay, that she could never do because she isn't selfish, he hurt her and drove her away. Maybe sharing his conflict with her was just a way to ask her what he didn't have the guts to ask which is 'do you still love me? are you still committed to me?'. How could Uhura see it, though? what happened to them is very human and real, and I'm glad they found their way back to each other. It was a good journey. Thank you for this story!

I love how Nyota finally got her mind and feelings in check when it come to Spock! I knew he would say yes! Cannot wait for more of your Spock and Nyota! Been a fan of your story from beginning to end!
Firefly-class chapter 20 . 9/6/2018

Thnx for finishing the story.
Guest chapter 20 . 9/5/2018
I would love to see Spock mentoring Chekov like he does in the original series! And Chekov centric is always awesome anyway! I loved this story and I look forward to the next one!

Thanks for this wonderful story. It was great to see the development of Spock and Uhura's relationship from Yorktown until now.
Guest chapter 20 . 9/5/2018
What a wonderful final chapter; no heroics, no blazing guns or unrealistic resolutions but a credibly imperfect compromise in an imperfect world that relates to the real world and that fits perfectly with the thought-provoking story you created.

The final scene between Uhura and Kirk was especially poignant, particularly:

' "So where do you draw the line, exactly? Is it Yorktown? Or will that become forfeit, too, in the name of peace?"

... "I don't know. I have my own reservations about what I was asked to do today, but I'd like to think that I'll know when it's right to draw that line. Today wasn't that day."

... Sometimes it was easy to slip into the narrative people created for him. Captain Kirk could disregard any order, break any rule, and come out unscathed. But then she remembered to really look at him, and what she saw was her friend, who couldn't always ignore the consequences, even when he wanted to.'

Thank you for all your hard work to give us such a mature, considered story and such believable characters with all their strengths and flaws. There has been a dearth of quality Spuhura writing recently, thank you for filling the void.

Thank you for not giving up on this story. I’ve enjoyed it tremendously so far. You’ve developed the characters so well. Whilst I feel for them both, Nyota needed the separation and the space it allowed her to grow and reflect. It appears that their relationship will be stronger for it. Now that they have both communicated with each other on how they feel.

I’ve really appreciated and enjoyed this Uhura focus fic. Will be said when it ends. But all good things have to.

I'm going to have to read this story from the beginning, because I honestly don't remember what happened before. Too long between chapters. I know I'm enjoying though because otherwise I would not have requested updates. Looking forward to the final chapters. Thanks for writing!

Thanks for the update. I'm glad that Uhura and Spock have decided to remain together long term. You managed to convey the tedium of patrolling the Neutral Zone mixed in with the danger when they encounter the Romulans very well. I look forward to the conclusion of the story.
Trista 3 chapter 19 . 9/2/2018
Thank you for updating! I'm so happy Spock and Nyota are giving their love another chance! Maybe distance was best for them. Whatever are the Romans up to! Sorry this is ending, it has been a fantastic journey;!
Firefly-class chapter 19 . 9/2/2018
Nyota and Spock are finally getting somewhere in their own way. Good update!

Thank you for this, I love the way you develop the relationships between characters - especially the fraught nature of inter-species relationships.
