I agree with how you see Ember...to be honest I never thought she was TRULY bad...just heartbroken. Plus, I have always seen Ember McLain as a SPECIAL type of ghost...EVEN before I researched on her history...I had a feeling that there was something UNIQUE about her. I feel sorry for her.

Out of all I've read on this site, this story invoked the most emotion in me. I stayed up til 3:20 AM, crying all night, reading this through my tears, just to see how it would end. Thank you for this story. Not sure what else to write, just... thank you so much for this, and for capturing the emotions in your chapters so well.

Okay, I'll admit that I was actually thinking that Ember was going to address the world and ask them to chant her name, then back up/enhance Danny's ghostly wail to take out Plasmius. But this works too. Very well. I really appreciated this coming full circle and Ember understanding/realizing what was going on with the Little Mermaid. Nicely done.

Well, I have to say that this has been quite a ride. At first, I was kind of annoyed because I thought that you broke up Danny and Sam specifically for this pairing. Then I was pleasantly surprised when there weren't only very mature reasons, but they were plausible and had consequences. Long-term consequences. That turned out to be my favorite part of the story.

A couple of things, though: I mean this with the best of intentions, but (and take it from someone who used to use them all the time), 95% of your elipses can go. (elipses ... ) Seriously, a period works just fine. And when people speak, just ending the quotation with a comma is correct. And while I felt that this was written by someone with emotional maturity and experience, it didn't really come across that way until later. I would have liked to see something a bit more at the beginning hinting at how much deeper this story actually is. And lastly, the flashbacks are... well, obvious and kind of distracting. Having them at the beginning of a chapter or end of a chapter might help, as well as not labeling them as flashbacks (the italics and dates you used work just fine).

Now, as for that fight scene at the end, I was riveted. Seriously, it's 4 in the morning and I really need to go to bed, but I don't regret staying up to finish this. Just, wow. Hon, you can write action scenes! Impressive. And a great setup. So yeah.

I don't really approve of everyone lying for her, but I do appreciate Paulina being taken down a couple of pegs. I hope Lancer wouldn't have punished her without proof.

Also, I'm a hairdresser, and I would VERY much like to know what dye Ember used. Taking a Latina-black hair color and making it pink in less than 15 minutes... that HAD to be ghostly. And I want it. In all colors. Please.

(FYI, it usually takes 2-3 sessions of lighting latina-black hair into something that is remotely dyable for pink... and we're talking anywhere from 3-7 hours per session. Just saying)

still a funny twist, i assumed this would happen before the hot/cold thing to possibly overwhelm him, but this is a fun twist on her gaining power. I'd call that "Encore revival"

Vlad got her motives wrong, but spectra would get something out of it. Danny would be questioning his experience with her once Amberline's lain's secret that she is Ember Mclain. when an enemy tries to get close to the hero as a false friend but turns genuine later on, the heroes still question and lash out when the secret is revealed. ember is going to be in for a rough time.

with reading this with wanting to reply and not skip story, i feel she could be completely embarressed. part of it being that she dresses up either goth (sam's karma of irony for an A-lister) or be forced not to use any fancy products or make-up. I definitely believe that she has to stay away from danny is an absolute order to give.

and ember reveals "amberline" to kitty. that is surprising and cute to see Kitty know math and help ember out.
