I have to ask is this fan fiction inspired by the book Here Lies Daniel Tate by Cristin Terrill? It's the only book I could think of that has a similar title especially with how you basically stated in the summary that Danny's dead. Also, I'm way over 18 (probably too old to be reading fanfic), in case you were wondering.

I didn’t use to like reading, as I always felt that something was...missing from the stories.
After discovering , I think I’ve found what it is. It’s characterization. You, and so many other authors, seem to have mastered the art of writing. You turn people inside-and-out. It’s stunning how much life and emotion and pain is in your writing. You wrote Maddie ridiculously obsessed over her son’s identities. And the amount of raw emotion you put into Danny is fucking fantastic.

I think this chapter was perfect. The switching between past and present. While peaceful in nature, the final sentence was haunting. I don’t think I can describe how beautiful the death scene was...

I think I’d have to believe Maddie’s story in this Fic. If she truly tortured her son, then why would she shoot him before *literally* diving into him? And I think the present Vlad scenes seem to prove Maddie’s perspective as true...

I adore your Disparaged series. And I don’t think I’ve ever been that excited to read a FanFic in my life.

Frick. I didn't want to read fics that were too long, but it was so good that I just had to keep reading. I feel so emotional now. I think... I think I'm gonna cry. That was painful, angsty, sad and everything. I thought Maddie had gone insane, but she... she wanted to save him. That was quite the twist. She killed him, because she loved him. That hit so hard, that was so painful. It amazes me how I realized she wasn't insane the whole time, and didn't do it because she hated his ghost haf like the other fics. She didn't want to, and I could really feel that painful love radiating in every chapter of this fic. You, as always, are an amazing writer. Everything was so good, perfect. The pace was confusing at times, but I eventually got used to it, and it actually fits the story well. Thank you for sharing this with us.

Just finished this story last night and I loved it. I marathoned all of your works instead of studying for finals, to be honest lol. I was wondering what novel it was based on?

Maddie's story isn't inconsistent with the autopsy report at the end, but I prefer to think Maddie made up the whole "Danny has an obsession he's succumbing to" to justify her treatment of him. It reminds me a lot of Magnetized. It'd just be too convenient if Maddie got to have some justification to play out her fantasies on her son...

Wow! I didn't even think..that perhaps it wasn't Maddie's fault so to speak. That Danny Turned evil after all. And she had to out him down. This fascinating. She's clearly unhinged..but was that before or after the end?

All I can say is... wow

I wonder, what her sentence is. Maybe Walkers prison in the ghost zone? If he has human proof walls, and Vlad couldn't do anything about it. Walker would never give Maddie to Vlad. After all, she is the one who took away one of his most wanted ghost. But come to think of it Walker and all the other of Dannys enemys, would hate her and give her a rough time. Not to forgett, Frostbite and Dannys other allies.

Maybe deathsentence? Then she coukd be imprisoned by Walker.

That ending left me completely speechless. It does make me think that it really wasn't just Danny isolating himself after all and Maddie having some sort of ulterior motive. She could have just simply killed him one way or the other and not have (without spoiling anything major) gotten so into it with what was left behind if her story she was telling was true.

So yeah, though I want to believe she killed Danny to save him, I lean more towards the other, less savory option. It's nice that this story left me thinking and I applaud you for that.
