I really like the way you imagined younger Haymitch. I can recognize the Haymitch from the books in him while also seeing how much he's going to be changed by his experiences. This is a really engaging fic! Many Hunger Games fics that follow a single protagonist fall into similar patterns for their characterisations, but you made Haymitch's personality really shine through and I find myself rooting for him. His backstory was very interesting too, and tied in to his personally perfectly. I felt it was quite realistic. (And Roan is Katniss' dad, right? That was a really cool touch I've never seen in a fic before, and I personally really love that it gives Haymitch an extra reason to fight for Katniss in canon.)

I hope you're planning to write more, cus' I want to find out what happens next!

Man, I really like this! Roan is a really likeable character, and I love him and Haymitch's friendship. The part where he calls Haymitch 'Mish' was so sweet. I can't wait to see what happens at the reaping!

This whole chapter was really emotionally intense, I love how you can convey that in your writing.

So it seems Ana is Maysilee's sister? I like that idea. The whipping was very brutal, well written.

The Trainspotting references definately caught my eye in the summary, and the Breakfast Club/ Cool Hand Luke nods...clever ;) I'm definitely glad I decided to give this story a shot and I'm looking forward to future chapters!
