WearyCurmudgeon chapter 11 . 5/13
- Prize
Setting aside the validity of the ship AI's plans with Xander around, or the folly of the ONI ones, considering their underestimation of the situation.

While I do agree with the caution with regards to introducing technology to a lower tech tier civilization and that working for it, will makes them more proficient and careful with it.

I do think that improvements to smart AI longevity would be an useful olive branch to mollify them for the testing and not getting goodies immediately, considering the state of the war.

The loss of a single experienced smart AI would have a significant impact on scientific discoveries. (Akin to losing a veteran to elite unit would have in a military campaign.)

I know that "proofreader" over at TtH has come up with a viable way to partially offset this and at the same time increase the number of Spartan IIs in service. However, there's no way for this ship's AI to be aware of this process.

So the lifespan extension for Smart AIs, before rampancy can be an issue would be a major boon.

Just look at Cortana, she didn't even make it to the 7y mark, AFAIK, but the sheer amount of data she was exposed to forced her into early rampancy.

Would that still be the case, if her expected lifespan were say 100 to 200y?

So yeah, longer living Smart AIs would have a huge effect on the war effort, especially considering the tech analysis aspect, with regards to Covenant, Forerunner or Ancestral human technology available.

"Grendel" in his own BtVS/Halo fic series over at TtH has already shown off how much of an impact a non data/lifespan limited Cortana could have.

Going from ship designs that were Covenant/UNSC/Goa'uld hybrids to Forerunner/Ancient ones instead.

I really hope the ship is a Ancient Human Ship, I really do.
joshua.obryan.549 chapter 11 . 5/10
all I could think of durinng the last couple of paragraphs is "janus must have had a hand in this" because to get assigned an arrogant ONI agent, on a crucial mission that could potentially help the world, only a ROB could possibly have the agent doing such a stupid thing

Darkness in the Light chapter 10 . 4/5
Like the story so far, sad that most of the Halo part is fat so far. That is not just my dislike of Halo 4 and 5 coming in. While not bad so far we have slight changes in the Halo novels.

While I love Halo the only thing I hate about the games is in the timeline there is no stick big enough to throw at the story to change its direction. No weapon is big enough to stop the Covenant. Even if humans could kill ten of their ships for every one they lost it would still lose the fight for humanity.

What an interesting discovery... :) And Alex and Joy have been assigned there. I'm very curious to find out what happens as a result.
Asis chapter 10 . 10/21/2019
Calling it! They're going to breach her ship and the ship is going to lock her out only to employ lethal countermeasures.
