Love it. I don’t know why but I haven’t really thought about this much, Sams fave songs. This was a good take on it. Thanks for sharing!

I saw your response. I have also shared the link for the song I am only human from YouTube on your PM
dg.sangita chapter 1 . 2/13/2018
This is your first fic! Really? Wow it was great...the last song that you mentioned was epic. I heard it in YouTube long back in one of the videos of SPN. Loved the way you chose all the songs that Sam would love specially the last one. True he did take demon blood and all that took place after that but each time he stumbled was to save his brother. These 2 boys keep each other human...totally loved your story
laureleaf chapter 5 . 2/12/2018
Great story, especially for your first one! It’s always bothered me that we know next to nothing about Sam’s musical preferences. Thanks for filling in the gap!
MichelleAKF chapter 5 . 1/9/2018
I only know Eye of the Tiger and Hey Jude from this list. I'll have to check the others out. I am not really familiar with much popular music after the 80's, despite my kids' best efforts. The last song seems more depressing than up lifting. The writing was well done. I look forward to more from you!
Kathy chapter 5 . 8/23/2017
enjoyed reading this, very well done
LilyBolt chapter 5 . 7/16/2017
I like that "Hey Jude" made the list, not because of Mary directly, but because of Dean passing on that tradition to Sam when they were growing up - filling in his mother's shoes while taking care of Sammy. That's a very sweet, and very believable concept. Sam's number one song had a message I could definitely see Sam appreciating. I could also see it being one which Dean would understand and respect. I was glad to see them bond over their humanity, and their mutual respect for the moments in which one or the other needed to fall down at all. Overall this story was sweet, and a fun way to explore the Winchester brother dynamic, all while providing insight into the rarely-talked-about-in-the-show topic of Sam's musical tastes. Good work! :D

P.S. My favorite line in this chapter was:

"Ok Sammy, I gotta get back to fixing Baby. I need a little axle grease and some 'Zeppelin before I turn into a giant girl."

That's a perfectly Dean way to bring their emotional disclosure time to a smooth finish, and transition them back to their normal, not so emotional way of interacting. lol
LilyBolt chapter 4 . 7/16/2017
I like that you didn't let all of Sam's songs be tethered to Dean specifically. Although Dean is undeniably a HUGE part of Sam's life, and the person he's closest to in it, that doesn't make Dean the /only/ person Sam has ever felt an emotional connection to. Jessica Moore is surely high on Sam's list of loved ones, and it makes a lot of sense to me that there'd be a song on Sam's iPod which reminds him of her, and which he loves for that reason. Excellent choice, and very believable! :)

P.S. My favorite line in this chapter was:

" He picked up his beer bottle and tilted it towards his brother. 'To Jessica.' Sam lifted his own bottle and clinked it gently.
'To Jess,' he agreed and took a long drink. "

That was a sweet moment, and it's nice to think that even after all this time, Dean still respects how deeply that loss affected his little brother. Also, I thought it was a great touch that you had Sam call her "Jess", while Dean called her "Jessica". Dean didn't know her practically at all, so it makes sense he would use her proper name, whereas Sam knew her quite intimately, and therefore would call her by a nickname - something more personal.
LilyBolt chapter 3 . 7/16/2017
Ah, and here things take a more emotional turn. I'm not sure why I've always assumed Sam's music choices would be more emotional than Dean's (especially considering Dean's love of rock and roll IS rooted in his emotional connection to his father and his youth), but the song you've chosen here fits well with my idea of what Sam might listen to. And of course, the lyrics do exemplify the way of the Winchester brothers, to always have each others' backs through thick and thin. Great choice. :)

P.S. My favorite line was:

"That line 'Nothing you confess, could make me love you less' had comforted Sam through many a dark hour when he thought about all the bad he had done in his life and all the guilt he felt about the times he screwed up and, more importantly, let Dean down."

There's something so very sweet about Sam reminding himself of his brother's unconditional love for him whenever he's feeling at his lowest. It just goes to show that Dean is the person Sam trusts above all else, and rightfully so. Dean really DOES love Sam no matter what, and has proven it time and time again. I thought you conveyed that connection and trust very well here.
LilyBolt chapter 2 . 7/16/2017
I appreciate the idea behind this fifth song and Sam's appreciation for it. It's nice to think he likes the song because it reminds him of one of his brother's quirks, and perhaps even reminds him of the fact that Dean is human, and gets nervous just like anyone does. Nice start to this top five list!

P.S. My favorite line was this one:

"Although he would rather be re-infected with ghost sickness than admit it out loud to Sam, he knew that he did have a tendency to hum Metallica when anxious."

I thought it was very /Dean/ to have him recognize his habitual response to anxiety, but also be loath to admit to having any sign of such weakness to Sam, whom he's determined to always be strong for.
LilyBolt chapter 1 . 7/16/2017
This is a cool concept for a story. I really like the idea of Dean deciding to show an interest in the music Sam listens to. It's something we've barely seen explored in the show (off the top of my head I can think of just one or two times the show has addressed Sam's music preferences, and never in-depth). I'm looking forward to seeing where you take this. :)

P.S. My favorite line was:

" Sam walked over to the speaker and turned down the volume.
'Dude!' Dean griped at him 'What?' "

I thought that was a very realistic brother interaction, not just in general like "oh, this looks like something brothers would do", but specifically true to THESE brothers; I could very clearly picture both Sam and Dean as the moment unfolded.
C1 chapter 5 . 7/3/2017
This was beautiful. I can't believe it is your first! I hope there are many more to follow.
