Beautiful chapter! You've once again opened very nicely, which leaves a lot of room for a plot, you could definitely do a whole story of the children training to be shadowhunters etc. Which would be nice, it depends on you how in depth you want to go, you could just do a chapter for every life event or special moments such as their first words etc. But I really like how you have considered tessa's emotions and jem's creating a clear balance between past and present, the concept and meaning of immortality. I can see already how tessa's controversy of revealing the past to them could be a really good storyline as she reflects her conflict and how the children react, it could actually end up being a strain in some of the relationships in the family while they're in their teen years which would be very interesting to write about. Perhaps one of the children refuse to understand and become distant to one or both parents, perhaps jem has to have a deep discussion of how everything came to be and his support for tessa. Maybe the children's reaction it'll could even become a strain on jem and tessa's marriage that they must work through - the possibilities are endless and I can already see how well you write in a domestic setting I think it would be very interesting to both read and write!
