Ugh... so good. But... but... it tore my heart apart. I wasn't emotionally prepared for anything but a completely angsty story that doesn't resolve with Yuuri and Viktor having hot -young- gay love that lasts forever. I know the climate is so different in this AU, and Victor's character definitely reflected that... but it's painful for me to imagine Viktor as being the kind of person who would do that. Nice job at bringing this universe and time period to life. But a little 50 y.o. hot gay explicit smut would've been appreciated. At least a little?

I binged read your fic. I loved it so much...It truly gave me a heavy feeling in my chest and tears hung at the edge of my eye lashes as I read the last few lines. A truly beautiful story. Thank you so much for you work, I really think you and your fic deserve a lot more recognition.

Surely the Olympic Games in the Cold War must have been exciting. I'm dying to see the ones from this year.
Still, I would like to clarify some things:
Unfortunately homosexuality was frowned upon both in the Soviet Union and in the United States and the rest of the world practically. And today remains controversial and in some places (United States, Russia) is prohibited. It has nothing to do with communism. The problem of homophobia has nothing to do with communism because communism does not deal with it. The United States was not a communist and was equally homophobic. I advise you that if you do not know much about history or certain topics, be very careful when you treat them.
The Russians are not homophobic because they were communists, that has nothing to do with it. Because the Americans were not communists and they are just as homophobic as in other parts of the world.
Something else: at a certain point you said that communism "tearing Asia" when Asia after communism improved its quality of life and improved completely. ;)
For when you continue with your good story keep this in mind.

I love this story so far! It's a very unique and exciting concept, and I appreciate how you portray each character and their beliefs based on their country and heritage. This is a very tricky thing to write and I love that so far you seem to be doing it respectfully and without much bias towards any particular indoctrination. A solid story and a great understanding of the time period from what i see! Overall an amazing fic I look forward to seeing more of!

Oh my god, I already LOVE this! I've (the sadistic side of me) always wanted to find a story where Victor and Yuuri struggle with gay discrimination, especially with how well known they are.
Just from how you've written this one chapter, I can tell this is what I was looking for. Now for how it ends, oh boy. Not a clue.
