An Excellent First Year.

I really like how you captured the whimsical nature of the canon while still being unique. The plot is original while still following the most basic of canon threads. The grasp you have on the characters is extremely impressive, especially at the conversation between Harry and Dumbles.

On the other hand, you do need to spell check your chapters. There are a number of typos in the chapters though it improved in the later ones.

All in all, a great fic. Hope you continue it.

Great ending to the first year. I quite liked it.

My bet is on the Weasley twins being the Shadow Mage. They used the word "Solemnly" while giving their word to Harry a few chapters back, and used the word "ickle" this chapter in their latest article. Hmmm...

I've read your story and I really enjoyed reading it. It is original and doesn't follow the original plot for once. Which is a good thing! I'm looking forward to how this story will continue. I've had a feeling that Qurell was still the bad guy, but you still had me guessing for a while.

This is probably the best year 1 story I’ve read in years. I really enjoy how canon and fanon expectations are worked in and subverted. Reads very well too with good characterization.

Good chapter.

We finally learn what the monster was. I wonder how Dumbledore got it into the castle.

Then there was Harry and Dumbledore's conversation. The fact that the headmaster doesn't seem to know how Harry managed to survive could mean that the explanation here is different to canon or that the ancient forgotten magic that saved Harry is exactly that, ancient and forgotten.

I also noticed that when Harry theorized that the Grail was merely a ruse to lure in Voldemort and his supporter, Dumbledore didn't actually confirm it. Leaving the possibility open that the Grail may appear somewhere down the line in this story.

Snape won't return next year. Wonder if that means Slughorn will make an early appearance.

I've really enjoyed this story. Unlike many fics, Old Blood captures the whimsy and magic we've come to miss in ff. Prose could use some cleaning up though...

Incredible story, looking forwards to the next updates. I would say I'm surprised it doesn't have a larger following, but it seems many do not appreciate stories which largely deviate from the traditional works.

Excellent chapter! More questions than answers, though. Just hoping Daphne isn't too mad at Harry... (H/D shipper here.) Enjoyed all of the details. Enjoyed the DreamCatcher, too. Interesting idea, that. Also interesting contemplating that Voldemort's mind may have merged with Lily's. Bizarre, that, but that could have caused the backfiring on the AKs maybe? Can't wait to see what's next!
