excessivelyperky chapter 3 . 8/20 It's taken her this long to notice Sev's home life is less than idea? Ah well... |
excessivelyperky chapter 2 . 8/20 I already reviewed the first chapter, but it's not showing up or letting me review again. Argh! But I'm glad Lily took the first step. Still, what help will she be when his housemates really lean on him? She won't suffer as much from being his friend as he will being hers. |
Guest chapter 3 . 7/18 Well, since you seem to have un-abandoned 'Spark,' I have a perhaps unjustified hope that you may be considering doing the same here. I hope you do. Re. this: Finally, a Lily that doesn't put everything on Snape (even though she had to die to realize how much of the blame was not his)! Thank you! Certainly he was not blameless, but everyone in his life drove him towards his downfall. Even Eileen, so beaten down that she could not protect herself or him, was a net liability. LE at least now seems to recognize that the Potter gang and the Slytherin DE-to-be gang differ only in their choice of targets and spells, not of ethics. Canon LE never did. Does LE now know everything that the Potter gang did to SS? She should have found out before she died: Black could never have resisted bragging about the Shack incident wherever he thought it safe. It would help SS so much if he just knew she no longer thought him "ungrateful" for Potter's self-serving actions. He's still under Dumbledore's threat, but she could at least apologize for not hearing his side of the story and ask him if there was more to it. An answer - ?including the threat? - that yes, there was, much more, with no details would prevent his getting expelled. If you don't mind a suggestion, I think the best thing the Evanses could do for SS now would be to help him find a Muggle job outside the neighborhood, maybe through a co-worker, and lend him enough bus- and lunch-money for the first week. Earning money would help him so much in so many ways. The job should be easy to conceal from his parents if he usually spends every day with LE, and the income if he's careful never to show signs of it at home. (Eileen is in no condition to keep a secret.) It'd allow him to buy decent school supplies, which his parents need never see as he'd keep them in the trunk. The eased pressure this summer should also enable him to do some strategic (Slytherin!) thinking about the future. If LE is sincere, she'll brainstorm with him. So many of his ill-advised actions in canon, including ones that were in no way evil, could have been avoided if he'd not been too scrambled all the time to think. For one thing, Mr. Potions Genius could do very well during the school year selling and bartering homework help and potions. To insulate his tender posterior, he must limit the help to just help, not essays to copy, and the potions to permitted ones and to his Housemates, who would keep quiet to ensure an ongoing supply. Some of the barter could be action against the Potter gang, too. Above all, since the werewolf murder attempt is now past, SS must be very careful to avoid all contact with and all attention from Dumbledore insofar as he possibly can, never giving the bum the excuse he covets to destroy SS completely by killing his education. |
Nattsly chapter 2 . 7/12 Hi! I saw that you were updating several stories of yours! including A Spark in Shadows Found, which I love very much! I hope someday you can continue this! I'm dying with emotion! c: |
scgaraycochea chapter 3 . 3/31 Hi! I love this fanfic, the way the story is developing. Please continue writing it, I would like to know how it ends. Thanks Regards. PS: I'm sorry for my bad spelling and grammar, I'm not an English speaker |
Kawisdom chapter 3 . 1/1 Another work in progress I hope you'll have an urge to continue (and time, and energy. Do you ever wish for a working time turner?). I want to see how Lily enlists her parents' help. |
Amanthya chapter 3 . 10/3/2019 Now that you mention it, Lily-time-travel fics *are* few and far between. So the concept is fresh. Fortunately, the writing is also well-done, and very enjoyable so far! I think you've nailed the mix of 16-years-old-Lily and older-lived-and-died-Lily. As well as teenage Severus. Her parents' reactions were gratifying to see, as usually we read variations of them disapproving of Severus. But the kind of people who raised Lily (initially very open-hearted if not always -minded) and Petunia (naturally, if unfortunately eventually unfeelingly, matter-of-fact) would have certain expectations of Lily's moral character and raised her to believe in and apply self-discipline as well as a person of her age is able to. It naturally follows that they'd expect and apply this to themselves as well. Especially regarding a boy known to have come from a broken home, who never asked to be born and didn't deserve to be pinned with the shame that was rightly his father's to bear, not his. I like how Lily doesn't quite have a plan, so much as a goal. She's smart, but this isn't a situation one can actually prepare for, eh? Sudden Resurrection-stone-triggered time-travel. But this also gives her some freedom of movement. I hope you will be able to update this one day! It's a quality fic! |
germankitty aka Dagmar Buse chapter 3 . 7/8/2019 What an intriguing start - quite a novel approach, having the protagonists actually being thoughtful, considerate and SENSIBLE for once! I especially like that your Severus is capable of departing from his default position of "snarky/sarcastic/bitter" and shows at least some willingness to accept help. Well done; I hope you'll continue this eventually - it'd be a shame if not. |
Guest chapter 3 . 6/19/2019 This is really good. I hope you will continue someday. |
Guest chapter 3 . 6/15/2019 Shame you didn’t continue, plot is unique. Would have loved to continue reading this story. Writing itself is good too, making it a more enjoyable read. Really wanted to know if Severus moved in with the Evans. |
Lilbitdangerous88 chapter 3 . 3/5/2019 Please update. I want to see where this goes! |
mysinger chapter 3 . 7/22/2018 Intriguing story. I look forward to seeing where this goes. I like how Lily has apologized for her actions and offerred to help, while still acknowledging that they have a problem with Severus' friends and the direction in which his life seems to be heading. |
Doctor Doofenshmirtz chapter 3 . 7/21/2018 Faved, kinda slow update.. Since 2017 and 3 chapters? Hmmmm |
SerpentDevourstheMoon chapter 3 . 6/24/2018 An interesting take on this trope. I am excited to where this story is headed you are a fantastic writer! |
