I think when you said the 'Prime Directive wouldn't apply' you meant only the part about non-warp civilizations as the rest of the Prime Directive of non-interference with the government or cultural development of independent cultures does still apply as that never changes.

The Federation does have fusion tech, in fact all star ships have backup fusion power plants. So that would be better for a power source since coring a mech with freaking anti-matter reactor would be like a small warp core explosion. Also ablative armor didn't come around until the dominion war. You should have just replaced it with say a stronger metal.

And you're doing it again with building a freaking battlemech in a starship. Even a light mech would be too tall for that especially as a Klingon scout ship is typically small ship itself. This is something that would takes a year to design and build if you go with an original design. Months if you're just upgrading an existing design.

So this is taking place after the Clan wars and before the Dark Age books or Devlin Stone and his little Republic got built then? Also wouldn't all their data be 25 years out of date? I mean you can't send in a probe to another universe and scan the entire known galaxy that's ridiculous. All that had to come from the ship they found. At best you'd get information on a single system and not as detailed info as that.

The probe would have had to get to a habital system, hack into all kinds of files and then report back which is a bit beyond what a standard probe can do. This chapter the story has already jumped the shark here as you have got to remember the limits to their technology, yes they have way better tech than in Battletech universe but it's not magical.

It would make much more sense for them to just go to a system with people and make slow introductions and learn that way.

I mean I like the crossover idea and the story has potential but you got to learn to put valid limits on things and not to go crazy with stuff like that and be a bit more careful and think things through a bit more.

I think you meant other reality and not 'other galaxy' as the term 'quantum signature' is used in Star Trek to determine other realities as the entire universe as the same signature. Plus it makes more sense given that the Defiant disappeared into the Mirror Universe and another galaxy. You might want to fix that so the story makes more sense that way.

They need an Atlas II. The Archer would make a good Klingon mech, but the Federation need the majestic Atlas.

I'm curious as to what era this is played out in. (Both Star Trek and Battletech)

this story has tremendous potential. i can just imagine Klingons piloting 'Mechs around, shouting in their language and fist-fighting with bigger machines (like a Commando running up and bashing in the knees of an Awesome). not to mention the ideological and political upheavals Federation philosophy would cause if spread.
