I actually liked Lincoln as a person (or maybe it was just the actor, since he was in my favorite childhood tv show XD) So I think you did excellent in handling his dismissal lol. I can tell the Lincoln bit was tough to write. It felt just a little stiff, almost like he gave in too easily. But I can't argue that it was very like Daisy to not let him have any hope of a relationship she was determined not to continue. It might have been nice to have a little bit more drama with the conversation, though. It would have left Daisy feeling a little more vulnerable in front of Ward and could have fed into their relationship just a bit more.

One thing I noticed in the chapter was that you've got a bit of head hopping going on, something I don't think I noticed that much in previous chapters. If you haven't heard of head hopping before, it's when you break away from the established point of view to fill in some facts or have a moment from another POV. For instance, this chapter was in Daisy's POV, but there was a moment when Lincoln glanced over at Ward and realized Ward might not actually be reading. We kind of slipped into Lincoln's POV, and maybe a little bit of Ward's. It's a tricky balance to find sometimes when you want to show something that only another character would know, but for clarity and consistency, it's usually best to try to stick with the one POV and at the very least have the main POV guess what other characters are thinking.

Of course, overall, your writing is great. I like that we got to see a little bit more of the hacker side of Daisy (I mean, quaking isn't the only way to solve problems) and that we saw this moment of Ward needing physical contact. That did some cool things to Daisy's emotions.

I'm hoping we'll see a little bit more action in the next chapter! Much as I love Ward and Daisy time, she can't just have all the time in the world to sit around and read Twilight (*shudder*) to him. I'm looking forward to seeing how you'll be able to have Ward and Daisy interact over more than just helping him get over the solitary confinement.

Oh, thank god. You updated! I'm liking where this is going. But I have to agree with you about Lincoln. He wasn't terrible, necessarily, but just annoying. Anyhoo. I'm looking forward to the next one!

Hey, just rediscovered this fic. I am happy to see that Skye is still treating him with dignity and care - she always felt like that to me. She would absolutely give him a chance to prove himself a good person again.

And so, Lincoln is gone, at least for now. Ah well, I'm sure that he'll meet someone someday eventually. Daisy and Grant are making progress. Jemma is making progress in dealing with Hive. The story is back and kicking, so yay! Thank you for an update after a long while!

I feel like you did real well with the moral compass thing - on a superficial level it reminded me of Amos from The Expanse but by the time this story he was telling was over I knew for a fact I like your Ward better than Amos
