EMIYA KURO chapter 1 . 1/20 You have my Attention.. |
Guest chapter 1 . 5/4/2019 This is where the writers could have gone instead of making another generic abusive father that was barely adding anything to Weiss's story. |
Morality is a Spook chapter 1 . 8/19/2018 I never really understood why Jacques is treated so poorly by the fandom. Methinks that it's mostly due to corporate resentment and the tropes of the media that paints them this way. I like how you portrayed and made him human, instead of a mustache twirling villain most do. I can sympathize with him as my situation is vaguely similar as my father is high profile and appropriate actions always must be taken, whenever in public, but thankfully my circumstances are far far removed from Weiss (though I'd be Winter). With the newly released Adam short it was painfully obvious that RT is trying to fix the whole Faunus plot, but the damage is already done, there is no credibility in White Fangs struggle, Menagerie is a joke, Blake is a shitty kitty and the vol5 as a whole was a joke. Sorry for my rant and I salute you for undertaking such a difficult task. Jacques did nothing wrong. Good day sir! |
HeartOfChaos13 chapter 1 . 6/25/2018 I like this one-shot and this one-shot Is Interesting. |
OmniGawker chapter 1 . 5/17/2017 Fascinating if a tad layed on thickly but fascinating nonetheless |
arsone chapter 1 . 5/1/2017 Glad I took the time to load each page, scrolling through the mass of the recent RWBY fanfictions. Glad I found this! Whooh! This was a wonderful thing to read, certainly the highlight of my day even. Most of my words are blown away after reading the finishing sentence and so I can only say that: I believe, at least for me, you've done Jacques justice. Such a waste of a potential character, his story could be certainly delved in more to make him a more sophisticated character. Omg, just... amazing. Have a great day please, I certainly had a great day after reading this. Ayy! XD |
WeirdRaptor chapter 1 . 4/11/2017 And by the time he decides it's time to talk to Weiss again, she'll have left for Minstral. |
gdvp111 chapter 1 . 3/22/2017 Took a while, but it’s nice to see one of these up when there’s a relative abundance of sympathetic Raven/Neo/Cinder fics. RT did really drop the ball on this, leaving Jacques as almost a caricature (and they’ll probably continue in that vein). Don’t doubt that there are such characters out there, but the guy’s survived through at least a decade of assassinations and continues to head one of the richest companies out there. Dust practically is the only thing keeping Remnant up and the Grimm away, Jacques at the very least should realise that. A poor background certainly makes sense for Jacques, especially after he’s been revealed as not being a Schnee by birth. Willow? being horrific at business makes good sense too with how easily she seems to be sidelined in the show. Addressing his wife as “Mrs. Schnee” was quite a nice touch in showing how he doesn’t even consider it to be a marriage – or at least pretending it to be in the Household – and hardly refers to her as his wife. The love for his family comes over quite well here, but arguably at the expense of his business and political competence; he shouldn’t remain the head of SDC without becoming one of the power players in Atlas despite the infighting – or at the very least, one who isn’t easily taken down, not merely a “useful” tool (he trades pretty well with Ironwood in canon, even when Ironwood is unhinged and seems to back down voluntarily rather than having his hands tied). Instead, it could be easy for him to lose his way somewhat in the need to protect his family as his morals get ground down amongst the intrigue and the bombs. I think he’s been painted as slightly too much of a good light here (something I’m reluctant to mention considering his reputation, or lack of), particularly regarding the Faunus situation. A man in his position should be able to bribe or connive his way to deal with that in a matter desirable to him – military dictatorships aren’t exactly known for their lack of corruption. For example, grooming up some Faunus managers and using them as a line to the moderate White Fang, or simply bribing lower-level officials to give him some leeway. However, as a trapped, condemned man trying to get his children – the only thing he has left – out it works quite well. The self-loathing and disgust is evident, as is his love for them and pride of their abilities. He went personally to Vale to get his youngest daughter out (and saw all the devastation); I can imagine he’d be terrified once Weiss actually breaks out, into a world where the CCTS is down, the Grimm ascendant and Atlas is shutting itself out. One thing to point out – it’s “Weiss”, you’ve consistently misspelt it as “Wiess” throughout this, which is a detraction. Thanks for writing this anyway and offering a different interpretation after he turned into a hate-sink after V4. |
LetThisBeCanon chapter 1 . 3/12/2017 " The daughter you stole." That line hits a hell of a lot harder now. In the show it wasn't very potent, but there certainly were a few hints, that line and the fact that Jacques personally retrieved Weiss from Beacon in particular. It seems obvious that he should on some level love his family despite his cold exterior, and has to balance that with the family interest, but this dichotomy was left almost entirely unexplored. V4 was a bit weak in general because they had to focus on four separate story lines and couldn't put attention that was required to make them all interesting. Ruby and Yang got sizable attention, but Weiss and Blake kind of got shafted, as we only saw the surface level of their own complicated adventures. This fic fills the void superbly. I don't know why Roosterteeth didn't take Jacques in this direction in the first place. I don't know where they intend to take him in the future, and frankly I don't really care. This is now canon, I decree it to be so by the arbitrary power vested in me by the internet. Well done, sir. |
Vir0us chapter 1 . 3/11/2017 Its Weiss not Wiess yo |
Guest chapter 1 . 3/10/2017 Thank you for taking strawman and making him a Human Man. |
Jakman505 chapter 1 . 3/7/2017 I like it and you make a good point |
Guest chapter 1 . 3/7/2017 You take a character that many people would be livid (at best) over, and completely justify every action he's made. That... That's utterly amazing... I don't even have words to go into detail. You take Jacques Schnee's cold and ruthless self and give it a needed reason behind everything he's done. |
Hank J. Wimbleton55 chapter 1 . 3/7/2017 Man this was...WOW, good history, really man, you make a Jacques Schnee the best character for me with this XD, sorry for my english, i still learn , greetings from Mexico. |
