Okay, to start with, aaaaaah I love the flame theory in these early paragraph! It makes so much sense that earlier techniques would get lost because they hadn't been saved/archived properly and then got lost because the people that knew them died. And the voice trick not working if people can't hear it does make sense. They'd just get hit with the flames, not the command.

I'm with Squalo, though. It's maddening to go back to being dependent on other people for the things that matter, though. It's like an itch under the skin that you can't quite get at to scratch.

Omg the entire bit about Squalo needing to talk to his classmates for groundwork, and his classmates being scandalized because of what he's wearing. School was a special kind of hell, wasn't it. [laughs] I mean, I'm imagining 33 year old Squalo sitting at a desk and being thoroughly exasperated, here. And the *pettiness*. [continues to laugh]

All the Superbi family headcanoning/building is *fascinating*. I'm guessing there's more on it in Black Sky? I remember you mentioning that before.

I'm just laughing at all the warnings about murder on the school premises. Ah, Mafia school. There's a series out there about a normal guy finding himself in a monster school and now I can't help but wonder what would happen if Iemitsu had tried to shunt Tsuna into mafia school in early canon...

Anyway, this was a fun chapter! I can see lots of groundwork happening for later plotting. Those texts Ossifraga mentions might help Squalo jump a grade or so, right. Which leaves less time for planning, but it'll also mean he'll be out of school faster!

Shark Tales and Shark make me happy, okay. Talk about Time Travel with the protagonist suffering from the side effects of being a kid again. If we can call school and familial interference 'side effects'. [snickers]

Squalo's adventures in the past continue! However I rather doubt this was what that teacher expected to happen upon sending Squalo to the head teacher.

...Dang it, I really like that Compliance theory. It works really well. Is it okay if I add that to my headcanon and Flame Theory doc, which I might publish at some point? And do you have any more alternate properties?
Hmm, so different resolves and focuses bring out different Flames. That's interesting. I could kind of see that but not really? Enough to not have a problem with it in this fic but I won't be headcanoning it any time soon.

Of course the Superbi didn't use any silly metaphorical names for flames and just called it what it looked like and what it did.

I think Squalo will now get an image of his grandfathers disgusted face in his mind whenever something Stupid regarding flame conventions is brought up.

I really like the bit about Emotions and flames. It bring out another dimension of quirks for those who are active. I imagine that if you get used to using your flame in a specific way you could subconsciously get used to using the associated emotion as well. Which further explains the way a 'personality' can get connected to a flame-type and cause even more assumptions.

Subtext is always relevant and important. Historical subtext is however annoyingly hard to puzzle out from only getting fragmented pieces. It easy to forget that there were actual people involved when you read about events in books.

Squalo now has a new way of conquering the dreaded paperwork. Burn it.

If Squalo gets the voice thing explained then he could mabye bring the terror of the Voi to new levels.
