Oh dear this is quite adorable and I enjoy how you have shown the age gap dynamic with out making one seem like a victim or tag along. Most fics focus on the age gap in a way that leaves usually the younger character in a disadvantaged state, this shows a more equal relationship between people with different talents and resources. Arthur doesn’t seem to be trying to buy Merlin, absent minded gifts are usually the norm and to Arthur it makes sense that his view of a gift budget differs from Merlin. As a college student spending over $20 nearly kills me while during the summer when I have more time to work and multiple jobs I can spend thrice that much on a single gift without blinking(but wincing in phantom pain may occur) (okay I know the difference isn’t dramatic but it is a difference)
