Tanicea chapter 1 . 7/18/2006 I recommend study and prayer. You are lacking a fundamental understanding of the realities of life and death, good and evil, freedom and slavery. True freedom is found in obeying the Law of God. True slavery is found in sin. The "freedom" that you advocate here is not true freedom at all. Rather, it is "license" - which leads to slavery. If we give in to sin, then we are slaves to evil. If we turn to God, then we can be freed from this slavery. He has the ability to save us, and His mercy is available to anyone who turns to Him in humility, sincerity, and love. We are made by God. We are made to love God. If we reject the purpose of our existence, then we cut ourselves off from God, Who contains all that we need to truly live and truly be free. We become slaves to Satan and his evil, and if we do not break free from this slavery by turning to God, then Satan will drag us down into the torment of eternal slavery. God does not want this to happen to us. He warns us again and again what will happen if we cut ourselves off from Him and His graces, which we need to live. He warns us again and again not to become slaves to Satan. But we have free will. If we did not have free will, we would not be able to love. But love is the purpose of our existence, so we have to have free will. God offers us tremendous graces to help us. God warns us of the consequences that endanger us if we choose to reject His help. God gives us every opportunity to know Him and love Him and serve Him. But He will not interfere with our free will. Our destiny - eternal freedom in His grace, or eternal slavery in His absence, is our choice. We have the free will. We make the choice. We face the consequences. God bless. |
Window Girl chapter 1 . 9/12/2003 Hey, I hear you. I feel the same way sometimes. As a matter of fact, that's why I was so hesitent to become a Christian. I've felt like a slave sometimes too.(even though the Bible says that we are not slaves but sons and daughters). I think, however, that I would rather be a slave to God than a slave to sin. You see, as much as we may want to own ourselves, we can't. If we're not slaves to God as you put it, we are slaves to something else. If nothing else, we are slaves to ourselves. But I can see the reason in your choice, and if that's the choice that you want to make, go ahead and make it. I won't try to stop you. I know that I can't. I just want you to know that you have a friend who may disagree with you but who understands you on this issue. As a matter of fact, I think that lots of people can understand you here. |

Isis the Vampire Queen chapter 2 . 8/8/2003 Please forgive me, I am not trying to preach to you. Job 33 12 "But I tell you, in this you are not right, for God is greater than man. I understand you but know that no one not even man is greater than God. But, God did give us a choice so I say to you believe in what you want and I will believe in God. You are a gifted writer though so keep it up. |
googoo4you chapter 2 . 3/21/2003 Now YOU are a poet! I agree with you totally, and yes, I want freedom in my life. This poem was beautifully written, deep and meaningful. Keep writing. (I say that after most reviews, but here I really mean it: Write More! I like :) ~Me. |
Sailor J-chanDuoxHilde 4ever chapter 2 . 3/2/2003 Last chapter was exactly what I was trying to point out in my fic! About half of this chapter was what I was pointing out. Thanks for the review. This is really good stuff. UPDATE! |
ArchArtistWriter chapter 2 . 2/21/2003 Another review, just to say: Yes, I understand what you are saying and in many ways, these are the very thoughts that whirl through my head. Please, could you, well, write some more? *sighs* Sound pretty daft, don't I? |
ArchArtistWriter chapter 1 . 2/21/2003 This is superb, I love the way you have portrayed your message beneath the poetry. It's good to see some poetry like this up. It reminds me to put more of mine up as well. Now, off I go to read what some of your other reviewers have said. fLO. |
K2 not signed in chapter 1 . 2/18/2003 Delightfully enough, this coincides to what I have been studying in Philosophy as of late - the idea of non-existant free will. your personifications of freedom are well done in this. |
Why must I be Omelette chapter 1 . 2/18/2003 Nice. "Insane orgasmic fury." Cool phrase. Something about it. |
Mercuria chapter 1 . 2/17/2003 You are absolutely right. It's between the frying pan and the fire, to combine idioms. Between Hell and serving God . how can a person expect someone to make an intelligent choice when the scales are so obviously tipped? Is it the "right" choice because it's the least painful? That's never good. I'm really glad that you addressed this issue, Java. |
anon chapter 1 . 2/17/2003 what do you mean by no choice? you have complete choice. |
Oreo chapter 1 . 2/16/2003 Applause. |
