fandomgirl2012 chapter 38 . 6/2
I hope you continue this story! I don't usually ready too many stories with OC but you just wrote this one perfectly. I would love to find out what happens next with her as well as Zuko and the gaang.

UnmemorableHermit chapter 18 . 9/26/2018
wheeze first they spend almost 20 chapters trying to kill and snatch the headpiece from each other, and now they cant stop sneaking the headpiece off to the other. thats so cute.
UnmemorableHermit chapter 5 . 9/26/2018
the dramatic irony's killing me. i expected a dramatic reunion where zuko and ashe recognised each other right away, but wow this is so much better. it makes more sense too, considering how much the both of them have changed.

So I will follow this story until the end and I think you are doing great. I hope that Ashe can come over her whole ice thing again on her own instead of having to wait on Zuko and her meeting again. I want her to find her place and stop feeling like an outsider but I don't want that to depend on Zuko because you have made her into a strong character with some insecurities and I hope she can get through them before the eclipse.

This is a nice fanfiction, and I enjoyed reading it. It has a take on "fire nation person joins gAang" that I haven't seen before and handles the emotional aspects fairly well; not too much dwelling/wangsting over trivial things, but still something to increase the meaning, both for the characters and for the readers. A good look at a limited perspective and the story telling conventions it changes; also the occasional PoV changes are limited enough to simply move the plot along, instead of arbitrarily explaining away the misunderstandings that make this different than a simple re-read of canon 1.

Unfortunately, I can't say this is a great story. While it is good and there are things that elevates it beyond the simple label, I still have to call it a canon 1. Even with the author avoiding simple rehashes by sometimes having the PoV away from what was in the show (that was a nice trick, btw) there was still a measure of retelling simply because it would be awkward to only have the highlights of a story. I haven't seen anything that really makes this stand apart as a story, and not just a fanfiction.

The fact that the major divergence from canon is mostly affecting an off screen character might be a problem for this; I generally read fanfiction because I like the speculation that comes from "what if?" If you ask the question (what if Zuko had a dear friend in the gAang?) without answering the followup questions (How does Zuko react? How does it change things?) then things can get boring. Some questions were answered, which is a part of why I'm still here, but the actual change in events hasn't been shown (season finales resulted in no change in results, just the names of people doing the actions and perhaps how they do them).

Like I started with, I enjoyed reading this and I look forward to more. There's still room in the plot for interesting things and answers to questions (Why, Zuko?) that I believe can be handled well (though it would be easy to handle poorly; if we don't see extra problems for betraying 2 loved ones, one of which is the unrealized father figure and the other is the lost childhood friend, vs canon, I'd be a little disappointed). The avoidance of some Mary Sue pitfalls (no opinion-laced descriptions of appearance, no convenient connections to people beyond necessary for the premise, no quick fixing of fandom's hated flaws. It balances out the "romantic tension with main character" and "special powers normally reserved for main characters") are also a nice touch that has kept me reading.

The only real suggestion to improve is something that I can't seriously ask for on this site: become as good as the published and paid authors for something that is sure to be a hobby, yet still give me free stories. As nice as that would be, I am grateful for what I have and the creative minds that freely share it.

Okay, I just wanted to say that I love this ficha, and I love your writing. I love Ashe and how she interacts with everyone. It's just too great. I'm looking forward to see what you'll write next (specially because book 3 is my favourite, and I think Ashe will be an excellent adittion todo how the plot flows).
It's okay if you can't update so soon, because you have a loyal reader here! Haha
Take care, and I'll read you soon

Hey! Remember me from I Belong? XD So I just binge-read this fic and I'm enjoying it so far! I love Ashe's character and her interactions with Zuko. They're pretty cute together if I do say so myself... but also as best friends. XD Poor Aang... well, I'll definitely be looking forward to the next update! Kudos to you!
