Fantastic ending for Spike - he couldn't have planned it better himself :-)
Maybe this one needs to be in the realm of M rated now though? Or maybe at least a warning of slightly explicit stuff at the start of the chapter due to that final sequence

Good for Spike. Wonder if Buffy will actually come to her senses or if he'll even give her the chance to.

That last part broke my heart. He looked so peaceful and happy. . God that was heartbreaking.

This is what I really would have liked to see in the show. . . . . . .Buffy beat, used and abused Spike for weeks, and he never once stood up for himself, nor insisted she leave. Someday I would love to read Buffy's reaction to Spike just packing up and leaving after taking her abuse. . . .something I always thought Spike SHOULD have done right after Buffy beat him senseless in that alley. Buffy really does not deserve Spike's unconditional love; Buffy reserves love for her friends, Angel, her mom and sister. . . .in that order. Good job on this!

I think you captured them well. Maybe Spike didn't openly display that side of him too often but I think it was definitely there
