I've been meaning to read this story for a while and am super glad I did. I love Dan's character development here so much.

The alliance has finally been formed, and Valerie is starting to trust Dan. I hope the two of them will overcome the struggles and pain Fate and Irony constantly keep bringing. Aside from Dark, they seem like the real enemies and I honestly hope Valerie puts them in their place, even if she is a "fragile human." Nonetheless great story and I like the development of Dan and Valerie. A relationship doesn't seem so impossible now.

Oh wow thank u for updating finally lol. I was starting to think maybe u gave up on the fic! Things got a lil grim for Danny boy and I'm wondering about what Nocturne is up to. Suspense!

Ahhh I'm so excited to see this finally updated again! Has it really already been two years since the last update? That's wild, wow. I have no idea where time's gone!

But this story is as good as ever, and even better! I feel like your writing style has really smoothed out, and the transitions between scenes are great.

I loved the dilemma in this chapter, where they're all struggling with what it means to force Dan to become good or else snuff out his afterlife for good. The conversation between Fate and Dan really sent chills up my spine because of that info drop. Guh. So good!

I really liked how Nocturn considered Valerie in this chapter because he's kind of an antagonist, but then he also supports those lil glimmers of dark gray that I see in this story, and I love it. Also, Yeti Dad is a blessed addition, as always.

I feel like this final scene in the chapter really captured the increasing ease between Valerie and Dan as well. I love how they still rib each other, but it's just not violent like it was before.

And oooh, I wonder who was spying on the last scene!

"Oh shit" was my initial reaction to this story being updated. I'm most likely going to reread the previous chapters for the hell of it. Anyways, this was great. The counsel being shady as always, Nocturnal being a nosey ass auntie lol and great, frostbite coming through with the truth bombs. It's also nice seeing Val and Dan having each other's backs.

She fought Dan and won? unlikely, Dan himself admitted he could've destroyed the ghost shield whenever he wanted. But he allowed them to hide behind their precious shield to see what they would do and if they could grow strong enough to go against him, he likes a good right after all.

Okay, this story has me hooked. Your writing style is wonderfully fluid and you write the characters so well! Completely aside, but I adore the cover picture as too, that's some great art! Looking forward to your next update. XD

This fic's neat, too. I like it pretty well besides how much you mention God (that part kind'a bothers me. But the rest is good).
So... what exactly did the council decide to do? Too bad Clockwork or someone couldn't have shown the two getting along 'punching things' before they did the vote. Sounds like they could demonstrate how they can work together. They didn't really give them much of a chance. ...Then, there's also that thing with Irony... Will that change something? It didn't sound good, but Valerie seems to be getting along really well with him now... What about Jazz? That won't destroy a possible relationship between them, would it?

I really enjoyed the scene where Dan actively fights off Fate's power to say that he's not going to be manipulated anymore, and I love how both Valerie and Dan begin to really show how connected they are-not just in the mindscape, but also in physical reality. They're obviously becoming more and more at ease with each other's presence. (Valerie even admits to missing Dan when he's asleep, which is absolutely adorable, and I love that whole scene too!). It's really awesome that Dan's "growing up" (beginning to exist outside of what Fate had originally planned for him and actively choosing not to follow the easier path of just giving in to her).

Nocturn making a continued appearance and interacting with Valerie was great. He's such an underappreciated character, and I also like that he has immediate relevancy to the plot beyond just attending the Council. I like that he helps out Frostbite and Valerie to confirm that there's nothing wrong with Dan after his stand-off with Fate. But what is his end-game here? Does he just like being contrary? Or does he secretly side with Clockwork / is a dark-gray shipper, even though he didn't raise his hand in favor of Dan and Val fighting Pariah Dark at the end of the chapter?

Irony is such a strange person too, omg. But I love the way that she curses Dan. That curse sounds really intense, and do I sense that it is in reference to Valerie? As in, Dan will fall in love with her? But please tell me she falls in love with him back, because if this turns into an unrequited thing, then that would be so painful! The angst would just kill me!)

Dora's conversation with Frosbite was also a really interesting addition to show the culture in the Ghost Zone (or, at least, the culture of her kingdom and of Frostbite's). I love how open-minded Frostbite is in comparison to how Dora has internalized the misogyny of her brother. I really feel bad for Dora because it's so painful to see whenever people internalize and accept a perspective of themselves that is based in inequality. I hope maybe Frostbite and Valerie can wake up the warrrior in Dora and make her see that she's worth so much more than she believes herself to be!

So now that the Council has voted against Dan and Val leading the charge on Pariah Dark, what will happen? It's not like the danger will go away by itself, and even more, Dan and Val are actually getting really good at fighting together. Is something going to happen that will tip the scales back in their favor? (And please tell me Fate's gonna stop trying to mess with Dan, because this less evil!bab needs some happiness.) It doesn't seem like the Council has many other options that they can throw around for how to defeat Pariah Dark, so I'll be very curious to see what happens next.

I love this chapter. Fate is a real likeable b*tch and while I'm extremely happy Dan and Val have gotten closer, I was wondering when his monstrous side was gonna pop up again and you surprised me in a pleasant way. Looking forward to next chapter.
