This fic is incredible!
Probably the best Violaf I've read - the way you've written the relationship and trodden the fine line of angst, abuse and disfunctionality vs the odd kind of fondness that grows between them, intermingled of course with (actually well balanced and well written) smut, is an absolute joy to read.
So many times I've found myself sending quotes of some of the dry quips and back and forths between Violet and Olaf to my friends who aren't even in the fandom. Some of the comebacks and just the dryness in their conversations had just cracked me up but my friends are probably super annoyed with my new daily quoting habit ;)
One thing I've found to be particularly unique and unusually works really well is the way that throughout you only refer to Violet and Olaf as 'she' and 'he', 'him' and 'her', using their actual names so rarely that it feels a little odd to actually call them Violet and Olaf at all. It adds such a sense of claustrophobia and really sucks you into the Stockholm Syndome-like feel to their relationship, and creates enough of a distance between the canonical book versions of the characters that it allows your characters to trancend the impession that we build over the 13 books (which in part needs to be stunted as your AU starts after TBB so that character development doesn't quite occur) and sells the growth and changes undertaken in the 4 year time jump.
This is probably really long but I just can't express how much I've enjoyed this - I've forced myself to read at a slower pace so that you might get further into the sequel before I catch up!
Just everything has been (ironically) a joy. The way you allow the relationship to ebb and flow, giving them space and cause for their opinions and trusts to adjust, you haven't tried to get overly bogged down within the aspect of VFD but still had it sidelined as a valid part of the plot but still kept the relationship front and center, your smut wasn't overly smutty and gratuitous but still has substance (and for some reason I find the mention of them using protection quite refreshing - though you stopped mentioning them... plot? ;) ;) ) and the fact that you for the most part have kept them confined to Olaf's home really lends itself to the perception bending claustrophia and the kind of bubble that builds over abusive relationships.
Just a really great story, it's lovely to watch as your style as a writer has strengthened and grown - I can't wait to start reading the sequel!

Oh my goodness gracious I definitely didn't devour this entire fic in a single evening! That would just be crazy of me. Clearly I have better self control when confronted with work so amazing it feels like a punch to the stomach than that.

Oh my god. What the heck. I'm trying really really really hard to keep this at least semi coherent but I just finished reading it and my mind is a jumble of "this is the greatest thing I've ever read" "how do you do this" "WHY DO YOU DO THIS" and it's doing wonders for my literacy. Count yourself lucky I'm trying my hardest not to use capslock.

Anyway, OH MY GOD. WHAT?! Literally how on earth does one even write a story this blindingly perfect and in a matter of months?! (FFN won't show all of my exclamation points because it has a vendetta against my "enthusiasm", but rest assured they're there in spirit.) You have such a wonderful way with words- emotions, thoughts, descriptions, dialogue, EVERYTHING WTF HOW- and you've honestly left me speechless. I don't even know how I found this story but I am so so so incredibly glad I did!

Your characterization. Wtf. Your pacing. Wtf. Your style. Wtf. Can I be you?! Honestly I'm too incoherent to write the kind of review you deserve so I might just have to come back some other time after I've calmed down and really go into detail about all of the things I love love love about this work, but first I've gotta read the sequel (that was just updated TWO HOURS AGO IM SCREAMING I'm almost never lucky enough to come across a masterpiece actively in the making) so who knows if I'll get distracted before then?! Anyway, this is probably one of the best pieces of literature I have ever read (and ASOUE isn't even one of my fandoms wtf) and you are a literary genius and I'm rushing over to the sequel about as fast as I can move!
