Hello again, so we've finally begun the Maiami Championship take 2. Now onto the duels.

Yuri vs Sawatari, as soon as this matchup was shown, I instantly knew Yuri would win (gotta keep Sawatari's track record of never defeating a Yu boy), so it was more of how well Sawatari would do. Although I kinda saw it coming, since this is likely Sawatari's last duel in this story, I was still impressed that he defeated Starve Venom and Greedy Venom. That means he would have been a match for Yuri pre Yugo absorption (even if it was a year ago). It goes to show that if even Sawatari (who is widely regarded as the weakest lancer) can get this far against Yuri, and push his lifepoints into the red zone, that the gap between the worst and best named duelists in this story has been considerably reduced. It suddenly becomes much harder for even the top tier guys to win i against named characters if Sawatari did this well against Yuri. Yuri Xyz Summoning shows that he's moved passed Academia's teaching of Xyz being weak, and that he acknowledges Sawatari as a rival also shows that he can connect to people better now. Regardless of all that, I have to agree with Yukio's sentiments, I am really hoping for a Yuri vs Yukio rematch. Not only is their interactions quite witty and interesting (since its normally just them throwing in insults and banter), but I still want to see Yukio get revenge on Yuri from what happened before. As something I've noticed in this story, Yukio has defeated every duelist that has also defeated him, the only person that hasn't followed this trend yet is Yuri, so I'm hoping to see him lose. Although I would love to see a tie breaker between Yukio and Ryo, I also wouldn't mind Yuri defeating Ryo, then Yukio defeating Yuri, since it would imply Yukio is stronger anyways.

Yuzu vs Sora, this duel makes more sense than the previous one from a character perspective, it showed how much each character had grown using things from each other's backgrounds. There wasn't any new ace monsters revealed (Yuzu's new fusion was kind of a support monster), so it allowed us to see their full strength based on what we already knew about them, which is pretty rare for this story and for the Yugioh franchise in general. This was another tight clash and they both showed plenty of skills, I think this duel was a good representation of how far a mid tier elite duelist can go. When I say mid tier, I mean all of the bracelet girls (except Ruri unless she shows a large improvement), Yugo, Yuto, Sora, Yusuke, Reira etc. Since none of these characters have defeated the high tier elite duelists, such as Yukio, Yuya, Yuri, Ryo, Jack, Kite, Shun (normally Shun would be mid tier, but after his Zarc upgrade, he might be stronger than Kite) there is a distinct gap between them even if they have close duels.

It was kind of interesting that you went with 2 Yu Boy/Bracelet Girl vs matchups, are you hinting that the top 8 will be only Yu Boys/Bracelet Girls ? Honestly can't see that happening, then again, it is possible for the top tiers to go down early if they faced other top tiers. Though I can't see that happening for some.

As for the matchups I expect, they are is no particular order :

Yuya vs Gongenzaka
Yukio vs Serena
Yuto vs Shun
Rin vs Ruri
Yugo vs Jack
Ryo vs ?

To be honest, who is the 16th person ? Dennis ? I only counted 15 when you gave the line up last chapter.

For the matchups I want to see :

Yuya vs Yuto (in my opinion, this should have been a match in Arc-V)
Yukio vs Yugo (a rematch from the previous Maiami Championships)
Ryo vs Jack (this would be epic)
Shun vs Serena (always felt these 2 would be a good match)
Rin vs Ruri (to be honest, Ruri kinda needs to win this to show her stuff)
Gongenzaka vs ?

When the top 8 happens, definitely want to see Yuri vs Yukio

OC Pink: Fuoff- Wait. WHAT? *Jumps on the couch, completely disregarding Yuuren's attempts at pulling his hand from behind her back* I KNEW this was gonna happen sooner or later! GO, HIIRAGI!

Yuuren: For once, I think I agree with you. It's obviously gonna go down to the five Yuus and 3 Bracelet Girls, anyway, so no point in cheering for someone whose loss is set in stone. Go.. Yuzu-chan...

Me: AAAAAAAND done! This was such a cool way to start the Battle Royale, and I'm quite satisfied with the matchups and the unreasonable amount of Fusion Monsters thrown in both Duels (If you haven't guessed it yet, I'm a Fusion Loyalist to the core)

As for the PSCT part:

Spore Bomb
Quick-Play Spell
Target 1 monster on your field; destroy that monster. During your End Phase, if that monster is in your GY: You can Special summon that monster, and it was a Fusion monster that was Fusion summoned this turn, it gains 600 ATK for each Material used to summon it.

I know, I know, I'm being pretty picky, but I like pointing out details, and I needed to mention that the wording of your Spore Bomb will prevent the final effect from resolving. I know how you meant to use it, but it needed to be re-worded so it wouldn't be confused.

Attack points these days...

That was a awesome unexpected yet expected duel so far in the first and second round. The one duel between Yuri and Sawatari was crazy with both ritual and XYZ monster at end. Too bad Sawatari got his butt kicked by Yuri though despite that he came close to crush him. At least he's In some way close to Yuya &Yukio level now. But It looks like Yuri Is now learning about how he will finally get more rivals now Instead of other people afraid of him after so long. Who knows there Is more to this for him later If he move to the next round of the championships.

On the other hand I knew It was a master student duel with Sora & Yuzu. I had a probability bet Yuzu might had a duel with either of the braclet girls, Yuto, or even Yugo. There were other reason I know why she would faced them. But this duel with Sora was the perfect opportunity as a thank you for making reach her level as a duelist. For this duel of course was the perfect fusion duel these two needed to settle things as well.

Only 12 dulist and 6 rounds to go nice going.

to throw some predictions out there, we obviously will get a Yuto vs Shun, with the latter making victory a requirement for dating Ruri and one or both will use the new Raid Raptor/Phantom Knight support.
And we'll have at least one duel between one of the 4 main pairings, with my most- to least-interested being, 1. Yukio vs Serena 2. Yuzu vs Yuya 3. Ruri vs Yuto 4. Ruri vs Rin.
I think an earlier reviewer mentioned Jack vs Ryo, that would be cool too.
And my money for Gongenzaka's opponent is on Yuya

Having Yuri finally see that there are other thrills in duels, while showing Sawatari is no longer this idiotic noob was really great. Your version really should really become the "true Arc-V"

Yuri calling Saruwatari. I see the insult he made there. Saru means monkey in the Japanese language which is a bit fitting considering Sawatari's butt-monkey status.

Also, you made an error on the writing in Scale Creator's monster effect in the card corner by the way. It says "you can this card." which doesn't make any sense grammatically

I'm going to be honest, I liked this cap, although at first I was a little disappointed that yuri's first opponent was sawatari, but the thing turned around when sawatari isolated his Synchro, Ritual and Fusion summons. I also loved Yuri's Xyz Summoning and how he defeated yuri in addition to his character development because yuri is my favorite Yu-boy, after Yukio obviously.

Loving Sawatari and Yuri's development here, and Yuzu and Sora's duel was a nice closure as well.

How did Yukio lose only 100 life points when Pendulum Ruler destroyed Serenity Magician? Pendulum Ruler had 3500 Atk Points while Serenity Magician had 3200 Atk points? Yukio should've lost 300 life points from that attack.
