I'm absolutely with your main sentiments, and you've put them quite amusingly, though this not a fic in any conventional sense. There needed to be more of an emotional core at the heart of the characters, including a more credible romance between Jyn and Cassian, more background on 'Bob' etc. Forget any other plot holes, this was main crime in the film. And these characters could have been much better used.

Nevertheless maybe what is needed is a rewriting of Rogue One, using essentially the same characters (and perhaps a few added) but make them really live off the page. Moving beyond parody to revitalisation, now that's what fan fic is for, isn't it? But who you ask, could perform such a task. Hmmm ... now that I think about it ...

Very funny. I am totally with you on the annoying-ness of the current Hollywood insistence that every main character must have a deep and meaningful character arc... like action movies have to be like Woody Allen on the couch and all narrative should be a psychological voyage of discovery...
