Reviews for Drift
The Dark One Rising chapter 1 . 3/22/2019
Forgot to note, but I love how you switched their dynamic. It’s a nice change of pace seeing Sam take the lead to Jack’s greenhorn. A talented greenie, but still.
The Dark One Rising chapter 21 . 3/22/2019
This was so good. You might want to put this in the crossovers section, however. Cureently, only one fic exists in the SG-1 / Pacific Rim section. I only found this after reading a crossover on AO3. I had already gone through the one fic in the category when the AO3 comment sent me this way. Very glad I decided to read the comments, but I wish I didn’t have to.
The Dark One Rising chapter 19 . 3/22/2019
The odds of them both surviving and then landing like that are so slim. It’s actually hilarious.

Side note, but I think I had my dates mixed up. From Chapter 3, I had thought that May Day was on May 1 of 2021. Wring year, right day. Can you give me a more accurate timeline?
The Dark One Rising chapter 18 . 3/21/2019
Wow. I’m sorry to say that this was unexpectedly nice. I know fanfic can touch on deep subjects, but I wasn’t prepared for it coming from a crossover about giant robots beating up giant aliens. Maybe I should have, as the source material for both series in this crossover could be serious when it wanted to. This has been a very good piece on consent, one of the best I’ve read. Shame it had to come from a format that is not much respected.

It’s alao funny that this solid trust and comfort works better than some cash grab “strong female characters”. Granted, not all are there just for the money, but many don’t seem to understand that being “strong” isn’t just about one-upping a male and then shoving it the audiences faces that the actor is female.
The Dark One Rising chapter 17 . 3/21/2019
How sly of Pentecost. That explains his motives for recruiting. I would wager Sam didn’t know. How could he tell that those two—or any pair, really—would be good matches just from their files?
The Dark One Rising chapter 15 . 3/21/2019
Well, I think I’ve changed my mind. Mind you, I wouldn’t premeditate murder, but I also wouldn’t mind if Hanson were dead. Bastard. It hurts that he was still and command, and she was near punished for it. A reflection of society, but it’s grudgingly understandable in this universe. Scum of the earth or not, good pilots are a rare commodity. Sucks really hard, but at least he’s no longer a pilot.
The Dark One Rising chapter 13 . 3/21/2019
So, let me see if I understand the one line. May Day was in May of 2021. The third anniversary just passed, meaning it’s May of 2024. This sets the fic as a bit prior to the events of the first movie, which took place in 2025. About how old are Jack and Sam? Jack, at least, seems much younger than his character in SG-1.
The Dark One Rising chapter 11 . 3/21/2019
Your warning had me reading quickly through this chapter. This was a much more interesting way to find out drift compatibility than kwoon trials. Do you actually study any martial arts? I could picture the fight scenes very clearly.
The Dark One Rising chapter 9 . 3/21/2019
Now, I assume that Sam and Jack will eventually end up piloting the jaeger. I’m not sure where that puts Hanson. I could feasibly see him as dead or decommissioned, not sure which one. Dead would be interesting, but I’m again unsure as to how you’d pull that off without killing the copilot. I also don’t really want him dead, despite his terrible personality. Of course, having everybody they can get is usually a good thing, but without piloting, Hanson doesn’t seem like he’ll be much use.
The Dark One Rising chapter 4 . 3/21/2019
Well, well. I suppose Rangers don’t need to like each other. It just helps. I do wonder if you’ll keep the SG1 relationship between Hanson and Carter. Would make things terribly awkward for Hanson to pick up on O’Neill’s thoughts about her.
The Dark One Rising chapter 3 . 3/21/2019
It is terribly odd to see Teal’c talking andhavjbg more than a word or two to say. Seems more like late-season Teal’c or even just Christopher Judge.
VandaV chapter 1 . 1/12/2019
After I read this story I had to watch the movie (never seen before). It was good but I like your take better. I liked your characterisation and I think Jack was especially well done bc you didn't make the mistake to make the same character as the older SG1 member (as he had seen more bad things and more pessimistic, sarcastic)
sg1star chapter 21 . 10/4/2018
Enjoyed this story, but would love more adventures of jack and Sam flying together. Any more planned

Aubergine5 chapter 1 . 3/26/2018
I decided to leave a comment because of the mean-spirited bullshit review just ahead of mine. I like the way you write and much of your characterization. I think it’s an interesting dynamic to have Sam be the senior figureand to have her be closed off and yet still recognizable as Samand you draw the other personalities in the Shatterdome really well.

However, I wish just one thing: that I’d been the beta reader on this story as I would’ve implored you to make Jonas charming in the first five or six chapters. It would have had more impact then as you slowly realized what a predator he was. This kind of scumbag gets away with what he does by hiding in charm and manipulation and being a good old boy, and I would’ve liked even the perceptive jack you draw here to have been taken in at first.

Still, a really enjoyable tale that respects both canons.
