It's an excellent little tale, but I really want Snow to find out the truth somehow now, possibly through Emma finding out or the Blue Fairy telling her. I feel like it's something Snow had a right to know, that Regina was never truly lost and she was right in having faith in her. As a mother herself now, I get the feeling Snow would understand Regina's need to make that sacrifice all the more.

This was great! The scene with Regina and her new family in the past was bittersweet. It obviously sucks that she is unhappy in her marriage, but her love for Snow was both heartwarming and believable. Obviously on the show she basically snapped when Daniel died, but for the purposes of this AU I can totally buy your reasoning behind her not blaming a 10 year old kid for being manipulated by a heartless witch with a selfish agenda.

I should have known Rumple would have a hand in Regina's secret, though, slimy little imp that he is. Love him though! Without Rumple there would be no story to tell! I wonder what he wants with the Eye? I'm guessing whatever Regina witnesses leads her to take on the mantle of the Evil Queen, but I also am hesitant to learn the price she'll have to pay for it. Casting the Dark Curse maybe?

Anyway, great chapter! I am amped up to see where this goes. You got me hook, line, and sinker!

Ooooh! Me likey! Supportive and loving Ruby making Regina feel safe enough to spill her deepest secret...so wonderfully sweet. Why oh why couldn't we have got more RedQueen interaction on the show? Even if just more banter, friendly or otherwise.

This was a fascinating concept by the way. Regina's motivations being cast into an entirely different light the way you're going is something I don't think I've ever read before. I'm afraid you've hooked me now and I will be expecting more soon! ;)

I'm guessing that Regina's bombshell has something to do with how unhinged Ruby's exposition mentions Snow was in Heroes & Villains? Like that maybe Snow is predisposed to evil or even was fated to become the Evil Queen in reality but Regina sacrificed herself to prevent Snow from suffering that fate. Am I warm?
