PrincessStarberry chapter 5 . 12/8/2017 This is beautifully written, and has a reflective quality that's so relatable to each of our lives at certain points-the connection of past, present, and future, and how we can use what has already happened to change what will. |
LadyVader23 chapter 4 . 11/18/2017 This is great! I hope you update again! |
fanofthisfiction chapter 1 . 5/1/2017 I like the automatic security measured of the Millenium Falcon here. It gave the ship an added boost to impress and reflected nicely on it's owner and pilot. It also gave way to possible surprises the ship and it's crew has yet to reveal. Thanks for sharing! |
sssssssssssssss2 chapter 3 . 3/22/2017 *crying* it's beautiful! |
Sofie.C chapter 3 . 3/19/2017 Well, Kylo should have known better than to hit the Falcons panels, surely he has witnessed many times in the past, how this sort of things brings the ship to life. I think we have already agreed, that the Falcon does have a life on her own, but now I am extending this to assume, the Falcon also does have her own intentions too. Why else would she have brought that particular Han/Leia memory back to life? I truly enjoyed this Han/Leia snippet. The image of this "vibrant, young, beautiful couple ... on the hyperlane to a new beginning," cuddled up against each other in the Falcons pilot chair, discussing how to name their child is filled with so much adorable and cute Han/Leia fluffiness, emphasizing all the things they are and they feel for each other in the most lovely way. Also the love and affectionate warmness of this scene gives an intriguing counterpart to the cold metallic armor Kylo has chosen for himself and the empty darkness that became his life. And maybe, just maybe this is what Kylo felt too, because there is that single (?) drop of moisture. I also appreciate you did a companion thing to the "fat ... Solo" line here with "Kylo could sense his mother -no- Organas fear and determination...", because it displays Kylo has still to work on his emotions, if he truly wants his parents to stay at the "Organa/Solo" stage of his mind and soul. "Kylo fled", what else is there to add - nothing, because we all know the outcome. Once again I am very much intrigued by your choice of language, lines like "The screen winked out, the control panel indicators dimming to dull embers," are creating a certain and most welcomed atmospheric background on which the story takes place. Absolutely well done, thank you for sharing! |
Sofie.C chapter 2 . 1/27/2017 This second chapter gives a well explored and empathic take on the deleted Falcon/Keylo scene. As I have said before, I do not enjoy thinking about TFA and Keylo Ren too much, but I truly enjoyed reading your take of this scene and your exploration of Keylos character. Maybe Leia has been right and there still is some light in him (deeply hidden and buried beneath misguided Force issues). Even the deleted scene has shown Keylo is deeply affected when he visits the Falcon and I appreciate you made him taking his time exploring the ship and thinking about his "fat ... Solo" "having just an absolute, tongue-tying apoplectic fit over the craftss current condition." And even super dark devilish Keylo Ren is not able to withstand the Faclons "personality" ("Leave us ... the, the ship."). It even makes him taking off his mask, sensing the Force imprints of the various people and losing himself in memories: "The old ship cradled him in its impression in the Force. The warm envelop was somehow homey - haunting, yet comforting,", but, of course, "He couldnt allow himself to feel this ... this sentiment." For being a Knight of Ren, he obviously has much to do by fishing any unwelcome sentiments. Sadly no enough to spare his "fath ... Solo" ( Ima quoting again, because I think you did very well by letting Keylo having this slip). I wonder what might have been the outcome of his confrontation with his father it they had met in or near the Falcon ... Sigh! The retrospection on Han giving his over-enthusiastic, bobbing son one of his first flying lessons is very touching and has been bittersweet to read (I assume to write it has been even more bittersweet). Yeah, this is definitely not what Keylo has been searching for, being affected in this way and getting an idea again of Ben Solo and what and whom has been important to Ben once. I think "Soul Searching" is an absolutely matching title to this story, because that is what you did masterfully well, you have explored the souls of Han Solo, also, even if indirectly the souls of Chewie and "Big Deal" (loved the bit about romantic intent) and you brilliantly managed to find souls in the Falcon (!) and the remains of Ben Solos soul in Keylo Ren. To be honest, I am not sure what sounds more remarkable, finding a soul in the Falcon or in Keylo Ren. Also the picture detail for your story cover is awesome. Anyway, you did an outstanding job with this story. Plus you managed to make me read and review something about Keylo Re instead of looking out for some HanxLeia stuff. but I truly enjoyed this excursion very much! Thanks again for sharing! |
Sofie.C chapter 1 . 1/27/2017 Why is it I have missed this wonderful piece of writing? I do not know, but I am glad I have discovered it now. I am always trying not to think about TFA, but when I do think about it, one of my thoughts is, they should have left the Falcon/Keylo scene in the movie. It is powerful indeed and almost makes me believe Keylo truly has been torn apart about the patricide. After reading this, it occurs to me they also should have taken in a Falcon/Han scene like yours. It is my favorite bit of the story so far, because it gives Han and his beloved ship ("... since meeting Captain Solo nearly forty years prior") an appropriate and well deserved "interaction between the legendary pilot and his beloved ship." This scene is evolved and described absolutely thoughtful, letting Han and the Falcon have their (final) conversation, respectfully witnessed by Chewie and "Big Deal". Also your narrative style and choice of language creates a very atmospheric mood ("Hans silver mane tossed wildly in the wind," "...snow crunching beneath his boots...") and adds even more depth to this particular scene as well as to the entire story. Especially Hans "I know" and him giving his ship one last swipe, locking eyes with Chewie in a moment of true understanding and the brilliant moment of having the Falcon ("the Falcon of all people" I am tempted to add, because you really gave her a personality) gazing after the trios silhouettes creates a hauntingly beautiful moment, which surely will stay with me for some time. I also enjoyed everything else about this chapter, especially the way you made the Falcon resisting the Imperial intrusion, but not without reason. Despite holding intense feelings for Captain Solo, she is a mechanic artifact after all. Great writing, wonderful story telling, thank you so much for sharing! And thanks also to your beta, erindarroch! |
Flower Mannequin chapter 2 . 1/7/2017 Ahh, that's cute and sad. :( |
Arallute chapter 1 . 1/1/2017 This is a great idea! Let's get into Kylo's head, shall we? It must be hard for him to be back inside his second childhood home, the ship that must seem so familiar yet so different now, after she's been stolen three times and left to rot on Jakku. I love the idea that the Falcon swears at droids like a Corellian. And zapped the slicer. She's such a good ship. Waiting eagerly for chapter 2! |
