I just love the repetition of those two phrases. It's really nicely done, and it does give a powerful effect to the story (instead of just being annoying, which could've just as easily been the case). The overall feel of this little piece is just so... I don't know. I can't find the right word for it. You can really feel how Sam is balancing between "what was" and "what is." That he is still in shock. Yeah, I think "shock" is the word I was looking for. Anywho, it very clearly came across. So well done. I really enjoyed this piece and the brotherhood you convey.

I agree, Sam was devastated thinking Dean died, and Sam being Sam, he wouldn't have just got over it that fast. He's a brooder. I love him so, and really a Dean hug should have been squeezed in. Thanks for this.
