This story is so so so lovely! HxH is so great for me because Gon is just such a bundle of joy and you've captured him beautifully. You've rounded out Mito as well, made their home and childhood feel like a real place and not just somewhere Ging and Gon left. You write with great clarity and I'm excited for any world building you might have in store! Mei is also interesting and a good compliment to Gon, I love reading about them together. Honestly, them as a unit will probably be the heart of the fic for me regardless of who else comes into the story! Obviously as you've said this world is not kind and it's not all gonna be Whale Island wholesomeness, but I hope the spirit of their relationship and their ability to be kids isn't damaged entirely.

Speaking of being kids, I'm really intrigued by Mei, this mix of her remembering and not. I've never seen an SI/OC done quite like this and I really really like it - that, sure she may be more mature and feel alienated from herself, but it's not like she's carrying around an adult consciousness. I think it makes the way she interacts with the world feel sweeter, more genuine. She's aware, but not debilitated by her knowledge and it allows her to move as an actual character, not a walking oracle.

I don't know if you plan on continuing this but it was so fun to read, so thank you for it either way! Hope you're doing well (and never stop shipping kuripika/m!oc cause...that's something I'd like to see!)!

This story is beautifully written! I adored every syllable!
Mei’s character is extraordinary, she fits so well in the story, it’s astonishing! I loved especially her characterization: her self doubt and her dependence will create conflict in the future, externally and internally, and I love angst.
The others characters description was beautifully written, too!
Ging isn’t a great father, everybody knows that, but you wrote him so well that I sympathized with him; he isn’t fit to be a father, but he loves his children anyways, I guess he loves being a hunter more.
Mito is so great, and you described her in a way that made her even more amazing in my eyes! I loved that you wanted to highlight that the twins are her children (more so than Ging) because she took them in and raised them on her own (with the help of Abe, of course!) at only thirteen.
Abe is what I always thought a great grandmother would be: wise and always knows what to say.
I was delighted by the fact that you chose to write a little more about Kon and Noko! The scene about the creep was so realistic, molestation is a serious problem, and you approached it very well! I was curious about Gon, however, and his “dates” with other women: did they even happen now that Mei exists? I sure hope not, when I heard of it I couldn’t help but being a bit creeped out.
Anyways I loved Doctor Vonne, she is so great, I whished I was her apprentice!
I am amazed: Gon and Mei’s personality are similar in certain aspects but so different in others! Mei’s flaws, again, will create problems, but a character without flaws and problems is a character I, personally, wouldn’t read about.
I can’t help but think about Mei’s future friends, and, as I said before, she fits incredibly well, she has the passion of medicine, healing, but not because of someone, for someone (if you get what I mean, I hope I’m not talking nonsense), Leorio wants to be a doctor because of his friend, Mei decided to learn what she could about medicine for Gon. Those are aspects that contrast each other, however I can’t help but think that they would get along very well! Kurapika is a bit uptight and Mei is tense, both enjoy reading and learning, now I don’t know what Mei thinks about revenge but I thinks that maybe she’s the type to hold grudges if the situation needs her to; I think that both of them will get along, too.
Killua, now, is a bit more of a mistery, I think that the two of them at some point will be jealous of Gon’s attention, but I’m not really sure, I guess there are many outcomes, but it’s one of the relationships I’m most curious about. I’m not sure what will be Mei’s role, between Gon’s recklessness and Killua’s over analyzing, I can’t really decide.
I loved how you described the Freecss family with so much unity, especially the bond between siblings: I don’t have a twin myself, but I have a younger sister and an older cousin we consider a brother, so I think I can relate a little bit! Mei doesn’t want much, only the safety of her family, and apparently make the people she loves proud! I loved that you wrote about how she wants people to have the same reverence as they have with her father! You hinted at it in the previous chapters: the respect the people of Whale Island have for Ging, despite is behavior to his family, basically they care more about his success and achievements. Well apart from his family.
This is a little trivial but I was wondering if Ging named Mei in honor of his mother, Mako, or Mito, or both?
I hope I haven’t imagined the parallels between Ging and Mito, and Gon and Mei, because from my point of view it was heavily hinted: Mei is so scared that Gon will leave her, I’m thinking it will happen, again one of the reasons I think Mei and Killua will have clashes.
I’ll probably think of other things to write when I’ll send the message but the only thing that has to be clear is that this story is a masterpiece!

Yes! Excited for canon (or not ooh) to come into play soon! Will Mei ever truly remember who she is (was) or will it always just be flashes? Not sure how I feel about that and it just makes the suspense even better honestly. Keep up the good work!
