One thing that is rare to see is an accurate description of internal struggle of a man who was made hardened by life, breaking under the softness and care of loving woman, and you managed to show this in very simple but relatable way. Good job.

Nice piece of work! I like your writing style. The only thing I've noticed is, that most of your sentences are really long. You put them well together, but too many in a row and he read is very monotonous. The flow would be better if you alternated more between short, middle and long sentences :)
