I agree with Itachi. Senseless slaughter makes no sense and is completely unnecessary. Michiko is a sociopath. And Akio is even more idiotic than I thought.

I hope you find your love for this story again, this is a most excellent OC story and I'm eager to see what happens next.

Is this intentional?

I completely lost interest at the beginning of this chapter. It had been waning for a while because Michiko hasn't had any significant setbacks and always gets her way, which makes the story pretty boring. The writing is good, but there's too much time spent describing the technical worldbuilding parts. Akio's character arc is brilliantly done.

The whole intense "look underneath the underneath", or however that saying , is absolutely fascinating to read. The twist and turns is even more so. The fact that she has layers upon layers hidden, and in plain sight at that, is impressive.

The thing about age is that (typically) there are laws in place that put children at a distinct disadvantage compared to the autonomy adults are given. These disadvantages are then combined with the fact that they are still at the beginning stages of their physical and mental development. Their body and brains literally function in such a way that can be (relatively) easily taken advantage of. Lastly there is the social stigma of hiring children and they fact that they lack the experience of their older counterparts which allows adults to get away with giving them worse pay/hours and is why it’s illegal in places like the US. It’s about what they can physically do without stunting their mind/body, how others (including their guardians since you can’t legally own most things before you come of age) can take advantage of them, and the fact that there is a lack of experience/knowledge that most need to know in order to achieve any sort of success on their own that children aren’t known for having.

Anyway, great chapter, and I hope that I’ll get to see what the end game for this story is one day.
