rainbowsandsilverlinings chapter 6 . 6/4/2018 Hi it's me again, sorry to be clogging your email... I just want to say it was really cool to read this after reading Recruit and Innate? You do a really good job dealing with Arthur and Merlin's relationship in different contexts. This folded very well into their canon relationship, which makes sense because it's inside of canon. 3 |
Charis77 chapter 6 . 4/18/2018 Fun story. Made me smile a whole lot. Everyone was perfectly written in character. Well done! |
karameiwaku chapter 6 . 11/7/2016 I dropped by the next installment of Recruit was up, and I found this gem. I laughed until I got a stitch in my side. The stupid little ditty, then the knights' additional verses. Truly inspired plot-bunnies rabidly rampaging through your imagination. And Leon, ever loyal Leon, was there to restore the balance between Merlin and Arthur. |
VellichorNovelist chapter 6 . 11/6/2016 This was a rollercoaster of a story! From sad to happy, to sad to happy to downright miserable to laughing my head off! All these little details are so intricately placed; "...rushed over to Sir... Whatever his miserable was." It's kinda saying that they've forgotten his name in the shock, but they wouldn't do the dead man the dishonour of calling him Sir Quite-stupid. I love it. AHA THEY HUGGED! -dances- And then they argued, and I melted into a puddle of feels because this is LITERALLY A REPLICA OF THE SHOW! -hugs- Thank you so much LifeIndeed for being such a fab writer. :) Also, I thought you'd like to know, that at one point you wrote: 'Dawn brightened into mourning' and, well, I wasn't sure if you meant to put 'morning' or not... And where you described Arthur's eyes as he stopped Merlin from coming with him- Something inside of me broke. The feels! Agghh! I can't take it anymoreee! Also, also, also! The song! Oh my God, the song! It was just so touching that Merlin decided against singing it in respect of Sir Quite Stupid and I had chills up my spine and goosebumps and I kinda just curled up and stared at nothing for a bit... :,( Then, YES! Arthur comes back, and good ol' Leon sorts everything out. Arthur's worry for Merlin and that whole paragraph was so funny! You have this wonderful way of lightening the mood at exactly the right times, and also being able to entirely drop the humour. OH YES THE MERGANA COMMENT HAHA I SAW THAT! -giggles giddily- The ending was so funny and so canon, I loved it. Okay, today's the sixth soo... An update within the next week or two (at a stretch! :P)) hopefully? :3 Have a glorious time in the meantime, and keep warm and have lots of fun and lets hope the sunshine stays for a bit longer instead of plain old November drizzle and that there'll be some conkers left to collect. Autumn goals. :) |
wryter501 chapter 6 . 11/5/2016 i quite enjoyed this story, a bit of a spin on visiting-knight-targets-merlin. i like arthur realizing he has a weak spot - but that it doesn't have to be a weak spot, that caring (for merlin, or anyone really) can be a strength, too. put a big smile on my face - and i needed it at the moment! :D |
Virebax chapter 6 . 10/30/2016 A hug! That was definitely a hug! Yeaaaah! Thank you for that LifeIndeed! Oh, of course, Arthur would see things that way : putting Merlin aside to protect him and not be distracted...that part was so sad. That's fortunate your Wise Leon was there to correct him. There was a guest who said nearly the same things in a review earlier about Merlin being Arthur's strength, wasn't there? That was quite insightful! Well, that was a really good fic. Fun, light, good dialogue, with some more moving parts. A very entertaining in-cannon story! Thank you so much for sharing. PS : I'm ready for Innate! Sorry, I didn't have time yet to read your other fics... |
Virebax chapter 5 . 10/30/2016 Wow, did Arthur just killed sir Quite-stupid? He was a terrible knight when compared to Arthur's standards. I loved Arthur's "First blood" at the end...Understatement of the year! And Merlin's distraction skills were hilarious! He can stand his ground (nearly), even when he can barely stand up! |
SpangleyPony chapter 6 . 10/26/2016 I guess I'm more evil than you to poor Arthur and Merlin the way I thought this would go. Really liked the ending and your two extra verses to the song were great. Thanks for sharing. |
SpangleyPony chapter 5 . 10/26/2016 The fight was brilliant but I do wonder what excuse Arthur can come up with that justifies killing a visiting knight to Uther! |
Aldryne21 chapter 6 . 10/26/2016 Ooh! This was brilliant! The banter was witty and the rise and shine scene legendary, the bad guy was truly someone you'd want to lose and the song... simply hilarious and so typical Merlin :) Thanks for sharing! |
Guest chapter 6 . 10/25/2016 Absolutely fabulous. |
D.Rose chapter 6 . 10/25/2016 I LOVED THIS! All characterization seemed spot on, it was just great. Especially how in this chapter, when Arthur was stating all of his worries in protecting Merlin, which are Merlin's about Arthur! Two sides of the same coin indeed. |
sarajm chapter 6 . 10/25/2016 I loved this story - cute Merlin, cute Arthur, bromance, wise Leon and Merlin whump. What more could anyone ask? |
Lya200 chapter 6 . 10/25/2016 Even Sir Leon's doing it now XD |
VellichorNovelist chapter 5 . 10/25/2016 Ohh dear. Ohhh dear. Gaius's feelings and the language used are so atmospheric- it really creates a sense of impending doom. I hid under the duvet while reading it, not that it helped much... For the past of the fight, I laughed so hard that I nearly fell off my bed. And YAS! SIR QUACKSIRE! AND THE SONG, TOO! -jumps up and down in excitement- But the second part was dreadful. The tension, the horror- AND SIR QUITE STUPID TRIED TO KILL MERLIN?! -hides under duvet- ..i will not come out... He's a slimy, evil, cowardly little COCKROACH! The part where Merlin was going on about HOW HE HAS TO USE MAGIC OR DIE HE HAD TO USE HIS MAGIC really emphasised his feelings, y'know? You dump readers into character's heads with a glorious variety ways. It's perfection. The ending, though: "He raised his dripping sword for all to see." It has such a note of finality to it, and no one's breathing or thinking, they're in such a state, and all there is, is a crimson sword coated in another knight's blood. The imagery you created- (throughout the whole thing, actually) I can't- Out of all your endings, in all your stories, that is the one which will stay with me the longest. And thank you for such an ending as this. I'm so excited for more. How long till the next update? There's gotta be another- hasn't there? :) |
