I think Death secretly ships Harry and Tom, so to make it easier for the two to get together, he changed Harry's gender. Like one of those teachers who ships students by pairing then together for projects.
Dumbledore's insistence on Harry's gender bugs me. Someone needs to sit down and EDUCATE him on transgender people and maybe sexuality, cause he places waaay too much weight on biological and mental genders.
Hope Dumbledore wizens up soon...

It's kinda refreshing...Harry's all like "damn I have to deal with more sh*t f u death" instead of "Tom RIDDLE oh my god it's VOLDEMORT *survivor's guilt/subtly hattes on Tom until some event*"

I like your take on gender-bending. All of the other fanfics I've read that switched people's bodies made the switched character think of themselves as the gender of their body regardless of when they were changed. (Meaning that when an alternate universe is proposed where the character was always of the opposite gender it's acceptable, but when they just have them get changed accidentally with a spell or something, and then the character is immediately like 'k I'm a girl now, better act girly and wear skirts' (which also brings up gender roles making it even more annoying.)) Anyway, sorry for ranting; I'm glad you're taking a different approach, and I like your plot, so I'll happily wait for more of your story. Good luck! :)
