12tailedninja-demon chapter 1 . 6/25/2019 I appreciate your story; not much attention is given to male rape victims in real life unfortunately, especially when the criminal is a woman, but I can see the proper equal treatment here. I got sadistic glee from the punishment Jason gave Tarantula for her crime. One can really see the care Jason has towards his family. And the care the others have for Dick. You wrote the characters well. Thank you for writing and posting this online so that I can read it. |
Zena-Xina chapter 1 . 2/27/2019 Okay so as disapproving as it is, it's really awesome to see Jason take vengeance into his own hands lol. I feel it's kinda weird that Damian is the one he finally tells... what age would Damian be in this? I mean I know he knows a lot lot more than the average pre-teen, but it still feels kinda weird. Anyway. Sweet sweet justice was served... Also, I loved that line about Jason saying they couldn't leave their crime scenes or whatever it was... I'd never heard that one before. |
Rose chapter 1 . 10/2/2018 So well done, thank you for this. She deserved all of it. Screw her for making Dick afraid and hurt and sad- screw her. Jason as the killer makes complete sense. Dick, Tim, Damian, Barbara, Jason- everyone was in character. Thanks for writing this. |

DraconicSecrets115 chapter 1 . 9/26/2016 Heya, there. This is DraconicSecrets115 from the Game: Shorter/Basic Review Game on Writer's Anonymous Forum, and I'll be dropping you what is hopefully a helpful and good review. And this time, I'm not completely-fandom blind, though it has been awhile since I've dipped my fingers into this part of the DC universe. My first impression after reading - Tis a dark and gripping story you have here! I thoroughly enjoyed it! :) Had me along for the whole ride. Okay, onto the more in-depth stuff - I think your opening is superb. Jason's harsh dialogue really sets the tone here for the darkness you will slowly build upon until it gets resolved at the end. His callousness throughout the story is really felt by the reader(and I know that's how he is; you have him very in-character). It really highlights his situation of taking vengeance on someone else(that he cares about, in his own way)'s behalf, and, in my opinion, makes it very enjoyable to the reader. I think my favorite line is - "It was a miracle she'd survived this long, but monsters like her always had trouble dying." Overall, you're writing is smooth and good. It's not too flowery, or too rushed. You don't linger too long on the description of settings, and that leaves a lot up to the reader's imagination(which I think is perfect in this type of story). There are some typos here and there, though. On the whole, I think your grammar is correct(save for the aforementioned typos) The word choice you used worked perfectly with the tone of the story, but I think my only criticism I can find with this story is some of the sequences of wording. It might be me, but some of it is a tad awkward. Ex - Jason says "see" an awful lot right at the beginning, which makes it a tad choppy. Also, "Gunshots were a norm in Gotham, to be fair." probably doesn't need the "to be fair." It's a little repetitious here, after saying "the neighbors wouldn't care." And "In front of him, Bruce stood with his back to him..." I feel there could be a way to word this without needing to use the word "him" twice. Those are just a few examples of some places like that that could be easily cleaned up to be more concise. I think it's very minor, on the whole. And now, to the characters. I feel they are all very in-character and well-portrayed here. I do not know if this story is canon or not(like I said, I'm not overly-submersed in the DC world), but the story felt correct to canon, and you kept the dark tone of Gotham very nicely. I liked the flashback's showing how each of the, as Jason called it, Bat Family slowly discover what Dick is hiding from them. His torment over what happened is very real, and his pain is very evident. I think you kept very in-character with Barbara being understanding to Dick, and hateful to Tarantula, especially in how you show she was a little put-off by how Jason responded to the situation, despite her own anger. The relationships here are good, and highlight what a dysfunctional family(though, still family) they are. :) The plot was welded together nicely and neatly wrapped up. I mentioned before that this is dark. Any vengeance story is going to be dark, and you really keep the mood and tone accurate throughout the entire piece. I felt the ending was just right. Jason's final words with both Dick and Barbara really wrap up the last bit of lingering trouble/distress they had(and also gave him a reason to show a more-understanding and less-callous side of his character). I appreciate how Jason symbolizes karma here. Dick would not kill Tarantula for what she'd done, even though she deserved it(in a karmic sense). So Jason killed her. It kind of reflects on how nobody took vengeance on the Joker, even after what he'd done to Jason - and Jason's willingness to take such bloody vengeance for another, even though no one else will. One more thing I want to say is - I really like how you handled the topic of rape. It's not an easy topic, and male-rape is handled even worse by the general population. The way you portray Dick's emotions really show that he has had a toll taken on him, and how he shamefully tries to hide it from even his closest allies and family is very saddening and realistic. I genuinely was gratified that Jason tortured and murdered that bitch responsible. At any rate, superb story! I very much enjoyed it. Sorry I actually don't have a lot of criticism here. It was really good, and I really couldn't find anything else other than what I have mentioned above. |
j18 chapter 1 . 9/21/2016 Yes! I've always felt it wasn't adressed enough in the comics. Poor Nightwing :( |
