Guest chapter 1 . 2/18/2015 Wow. This is...this is fantastic. First off, I definitely agree with your thinking as regards Faramir and Éowyn. I love the pair of them together, but I always have thought that convenience more than anything else was the reason they ended up together... after having lost so much, they VERY quickly latched on to each other. Similarly, I love the triangle going on, it's so beautifully fitting. I must admit, out of all the characters in LOTR, Faramir would be one of the last I'd think was gay. But it works really well, and that and the cuckold part gives so much depth to the reason Denethor prefers his brother. Your writing is incredible, the phrasing is beautiful and there are some lovely images in there. I only have a few negative comments to make. Firstly, I just cannot abide Wormtongue, I do think he's repulsive. I appreciate stories like yours where his character and motivations are further developed, but I personally feel he is beyond redemption. The other thing is I feel Faramir openly admitting his sexual preferences to Éowyn and Grima is... a bit unrealistic. I understand this story is only going to be so long, but I feel like the "first encounter confession" on two occasions just doesn't make any sense. On the whole though, I am loving this! |
Leally chapter 1 . 10/5/2011 Like all the people who wrote a review before me, I'd be really pleased if this story came to an end. It's well-writen (you've got the Tolken spirit, I guess!) the characters'psychology is coherent... Were I more fluent in English, I could list in details all that's good in this fic, and that'll take more than three lines ! Maybe you don't feel like getting on with it. We sure cannot blame you for that. It's only very infortunate for all of us who look for a good Grima fanfiction that doesn't revolve solely around that darned Eowyn ! Well, "tant pis pour nous". |
Cicadian Rhythm chapter 1 . 3/25/2011 To see that this most extraordinary piece of writing- one which I will never tire of re-reading- hasn't been updated in some eight (!) years fills me with a kind of Sisyphean griefrage that knows no end! There was much wailing and gnashing of teeth and rending of clothes and wearing of sack-cloth and etc, etc, etc! Oh, how I would give you so much blood, or money, or blood money- whichever you'd prefer!- if only you'd see fit to continue! Aye, but for now, I must return to my cloister on the edge of the sea, to bathe myself in ash and sob quietly! |
trzecipromien chapter 1 . 3/5/2011 This is truly a great story! I found it only by accident, looking for any Grima slash pairing and I absolutely fell in love with it's characters and, even more, with your brilliant style of writing. Not only you have sense of humor, but I admire the way you develope characters and situations never falling into stereotype. Seeing some time has passed since your last update, I wonder if you are planning to finish this? It would be great, as I find myself totally addicted to the world you describe. Although the first chapter makes enjoyable story by itself, it would also be a pity for such a promising story to be left unfinished. :) Thank you so much for writing! |
gfggb chapter 2 . 7/3/2008 If you do not write your own ending to this story, I will cry. I swear! I will throw a complete hissy fit! And that's not a pretty sight! lol. Okay okay, I'll review now. Your writing is awesome. The characters were great. And then you did something IMPOSSIBLE. You made Grima something more then a disgusting...well, worm. You took my old outlook on him, turned it completely inside out and then threw it back in my face. Holy crap. I actually couldn't wait for something to happen between him and Faramir! And then you go and say you never finished it and I'm terrified to read this other person's version because, no offense to the author, but it can't be as good as yours! Okay, I'm going to go see how this other person's version is because there must be a conclusion to this. Must. You must finish it. (tries to do vampire mind trick thing) lol. Poet |
Daughter of Olorin chapter 1 . 8/17/2005 The paragraph stating “Well, think of it this way” was very good and very logical on Faramir’s part. "I will not try to seduce him."—ha, ha! I like Balimond’s character a lot. “Greatly daring, Faramir reached out and wrapped a strand”—greatly daring-no kidding! “Someone should point out to Faramir that snowberries were quite poisonous.”—I liked this line. I figured Boromir would have accepted Faramir’s tendencies much better since they were so close in the books but, oh, well (just a little biased to Boromir). “Would you really kill your councilor just for giving advice with which you and I do not agree?"—nice point. I thought you did very good with what Eowyn was thinking as Theoden was weighing sparing Grima’s life. "I am lost. My shadow is fled away, and now I know not which way the sun faces."—very good line! And it’s so sad that I just figured out that Faramir’s horse’s name is Raven—black like a shadow and black like a symbol for Grima—very good! Well, at least Grima was thinking of Faramir by the end. I do have to wonder if those feelings were simply because a lone person showed interest in him and offered love while everyone else refused to even touch him and found him disgusting. I hear there’s another part, so I’ll have to read it to find out more. I very much enjoyed this. You are a great writer and it’s obvious that you put time and effort into this. Even though I’m going to read Acharnae’s continuing of this, it would be great for you to do the same. |
Daughter of Olorin chapter 1 . 8/17/2005 I asked Gaslight to recommend some very good Grima fics and she suggested your work. Glad she did. I like the AU, very interesting and would love to have the entire AU to this (from start to finish) and not just Grima’s side. Love the sun and moon analogies and this line was fantastic—“ it was that he was drawn to the pure beauty of the Lady Eowyn as the moon, having no light of its own, craves to reflect the sun; as a moth to the flame.” It’s been a while since I’ve read the books—was there any hint that Eowyn wanted to fall in love with someone like her brother? I ask, not to criticize, but because I can very much see that. Nice—“ It is both the curse and the blessing of the cunning man never to be idle.” No, I haven’t pondered the entendres of ‘worm’ but, thanks, I have those images in my head now! ; ) Very brilliant on Grima’s part for his plan to have Faramir and his men stay in the city. I couldn’t help but laugh about Grima desperately wanting to keep Faramir and Eowyn apart when that’s not going to really be a problem on Faramir’s part—hee, hee. I like how Balimond and Faramir joke about what they find attractive/distasteful in those to whom they’re attracted. I don’t know how long reviews can be, so I’m cutting this in half just in case. |
hanneke chapter 1 . 12/10/2004 I read the story and was blown away,I really love the story so Please, please, please, continue. it's one of the better grima stories I have read. I have also read the "second" chapter and I love to see how it ends. grima really gets more Carracter in this story than the others. |
Vara chapter 2 . 3/8/2004 I would like to urge you to continue the fic. I do not want a sex scene, that could be left out entirely and I would be happy. I did read the part that you mentioned here, and liked what she has up so far...but I really want to read what you have also. I love your Grima, and your Farimir. They are so balanced, Grima so needy and unsure, but so willing to be evil to get what he wants. I can just see him being equaly willing to do the most heroic of actions for the one he loves. And Farimir being so confident but so wholely lost to Grima that all his confidence is nothing. Please, you are going to continue, right? Please? |
Merit Somnia chapter 1 . 3/7/2004 most interesting... |
wonderer chapter 1 . 1/11/2004 Wow. Strange...yet thrilling pairing! The writing is engulfing...I love how you depict Faramir, my favorite...only about halfway through, but I can't wait to finish! |
Sliven chapter 2 . 1/7/2004 Hi there! I have just read Acharnae's continuation of your beautiful story, and I thought it was great. I hope you do chose to write your own ending to this eventually, but otherwise, the second best is good enough, as to say. This story is a masterpiece, however, it was one of the first stories I read at , wich was great inspiration! As I said, If you'd write more I'd be happy, but I really only wanted to thank you for this story! The dark humour, the portrayals of the charachters... I just love it! /Sliven! |
vanderwoodsen chapter 2 . 12/24/2003 This is brilliant! I never, ever read AU fics but this one is tremedous. |
Greetings from Mordor chapter 1 . 10/26/2003 You have to update! Please! That thinly masked cliffie is bringing me to tears. I read your fic for the first time a few days ago, and ever since I have been biting my nails and dreaming of a new chapter. I don't know what it is about this story, but truly, it is addicting. You have introduced me to Grima-isim. Thankyou, and again PLEASE UPDATE! |
