Ahh I love your imagery here as well! I liked “emerald glares he caused”, but I think my favorite line was “The road, as patient, as knowing, as careful as ever stood where it had always been”. Again, you do such an incredible job by really portraying two things at once: the overall setting and how it is being perceived by Gunther. It lends so much to the mood, and I cannot begin to say how well-crafted every line feels!

I also love how you are able to break from ordinary actions and rely on such a poetic way of describing Jane and Gunther's reunion. It worked phenomenally well, I thought, especially where "he assumed he was not deserving", and we have such a beautiful refutation of that in "rose colored smile before him said otherwise". Ahh, another thing! It might go along with it all being colored in a way by Gunther's perspective, but everything just feels so alive! So much more alive in the way you have written here. I think the sense of vitality I get from this is what's really striking me!

This is remarkably well written! I love how everything is tied back to Gunther's general feelings, or thoughts, and in such a fluid way ("life itself curving around the consequences of his choices" and "the wind spoke to the trees, their song trying his patience").

You paint such a clear picture of the scene, but it is all from Gunther's point of view, and everything feels like its being touched by his perception of it.

Wow this is very good! It's sort of floaty poetry, not pinned necessarily to a plotline, but more a snapshot of images and impressions. Very lovely. I would love to see more just like this — maybe in a longer plot, with little vignettes like this one adding up to something bigger? (feel free to do your own thing, of course, I'm just saying what personally I like to read!) I especially like the imagery of the violets of the evening sky and Jane as illuminating "red haired confidence".
