That took some real thought and planning on Jasper's part about the music present for Edward!Only someone who knows you fairly decently would do that for you!Controlling the money,food,clothes, a classic thing for abusers to do to their victims!My ex wanted me to dress in tight jeans and tops with low necklines,I didn't eat meat for a total of our whole 14 months of marriage,and even if I tried to surprise him with a nice gift for his birthday,he hit the roof with anger over the money that it cost us!The worst for me was when he pushed me up against that wall of nails,like I said in my other comments,but he would get angry enough to grab my arms so I would look at him and pay attention to what he said to me!The covering up of bruises(either with makeup for us girls and clothes,for guys I'm sure it's the same with the clothes)is another classic abuse signal!My new husband taught me to ALWAYS LISTEN TO YOUR GUT TO TELL YOU IF SOMETHING IS WRONG OR NOT!This is what helped me in getting away from my abusive ex husband! I just didn't realize that's what it was at the time! If something smells fishy,it more than likely is fishy!Hopefully,Jasper can help Edward before Alec does something bad,like put him in the hospital with an injury!Sorry,for the long post,again!Keep up the good writing!

It's still good!When I was with my ex he was the same way! I would go to another place in my head when he wanted to be together in that way!That was the ONLY WAY I HAD TO COPE WITH THE PAIN OF IT HAPPENING!GOD ONLY KNOWS HOW MANY TIMES I HEARD "NO ONE CAN OR WOULD LOVE YOU LIKE I DO."FROM HIM,ESPECIALLY WHEN HE WAS ANGRY FOR SOME REASON OR NOT ANY AT ALL!ALEC TOOK FULL ADVANTAGE OF HIS YOUNG AGE TO HURT HIM!THAT AGE DIFFERENCE(ALEC IS 12 YEARS OLDER THAN EDWARD)MATTERS WHEN IT COMES TO ABUSE OF A YOUNGER PERSON!IT'S SUCH A SHAME,JASPER CARES MORE ABOUT WHAT EDWARD WANTS/NEEDS THAN ALEC(HIS HUSBAND)DOES!WHAT A SELFISH PRICK!Sorry,for the long post!Keep up the good work writing!

This is a good one! I never knew that about cashmere,much less a full coat made of it!Edward's in deep crap now,hopefully Jasper didn't get close enough to get his scent on him,he would really be hurting for that! It would be divorce time for me if I was Edward and Alec hurt me!Hopefully,they don't bring babies into the situation,that just makes bad things worse,most of the time,I should know! I can relate to this,being a female Domestic Violence survivor,my ex husband pushed me u against a wall of nails(we had been gutting our house to remodel it and didn't have any insulation on this particular wall when it happened)and told me,in a COMPLETELY CALM VOICE,"Do you know how easy it would be for me to put your head through this wall?",WHILE NOT BLINKING AN EYE and it made me so scared I decided to run the next day!He was arrested and we both had to go to anger management classes(ordered by the judge),how embarrassing for me(not being the instigator),or we would be in contempt of court and put in their lovely County jail facilities!That was in 2009 and we parted ways,I've not seen or heard from him since,Thank the Good Lord for that,but(as weird as it sounds)I don't regret that marriage because it was the first test of my emotional strength and has made me stronger for it!A year after we parted I met an old friend!We were reacquainted,fell back in love and got married and now we have a little girl who will be 4 in a couple months!These stories REALLY STICK WITH ME,out of 4 generations it took me to FINALLY BREAK THE CYCLE OF ABUSE!Thanks for writing this and others like this!Keep up the good writing!

This one was so heartbreaking and so touching. Heavy but in all the right ways. All of this was handled with a grace and authenticity you ought to be very proud of.

Meyer set a precedent of leaving domestic abuse on the sidelines (partly due, I'd assume to her younger demographic) but a lot of us tend to follow suit not knowing how to take on such a daunting message.

Here, you have tackled it brilliantly and in a way that is educational without being obnoxious. I'm truly in awe of you as an author.

The other chapters had me upset but this one has me crying like a baby. The way you described Edwards father and mothers reaction just made me cry very hard. Not all instance I’m sure ended this way but this one I am glad you wrote it like this. Wow!
