Huh.

I find myself a bit... conflicted by this story.

To start, let me be clear that I truly and utterly enjoyed it. Action packed, intriguing, and of course, tons and tons of the bunny-on-fox fluff that we all love and expect from Cimar of Turalis. However, given all that, there are a few things that just... didn't work for me.

To start, Cimar of Turalis would occasionally inject some Spanish words into the character's lines, I assume in an effort to make it more immersive. However, it actually had the opposite effect. See, given the setting—an early 1800's, Zootopia version of California—we logically ASSUME the characters are speaking Spanish, and what we are reading is "translated for our benefit." So, when the author randomly throws in actual Spanish words, it's like, "Okay, so... did they slip into Mega-Spanish for those words?" To be fair, the 1999 movie Mask of Zorro had the same problem, when Catherine Zeta-Jones needs someone to translate an old woman speaking Spanish... even though it's stated she lived most of her life in Spain... where they speak Spanish.

Also, the story didn't do enough to establish that there are more foxes in the village. I know we learned there were once the Foxton angle was revealed, but until that point, the ONLY foxes we saw were Nick and Finnick. This leads to the logical question of, "How did NONE of the soldiers at the fort See a lone fox in their midst, and a fox vigilante running amok, and not put two and two together?

I also don't feel the author did enough to foreshadow Bogo as the main villain. After we see him when he tells Judy that Bellewether is coming, he is never mentioned again. He was never foreshadowed or referenced, so the "big reveal" comes out of nowhere, and is resolved the next chapter. And on that note, Bogo is killed by a character we have NEVER met, representing on organization we have never even HEARD of. Even in the following chapter, we are given zero information on this random Knights Templar/League of Assassins/Dark Brotherhood that shows up to resolve the main threat and disappears afterwards. It comes out of nowhere, leads nowhere, and gives us nothing in return.

Also, there were some inconsistencies in the story. Like, I'm pretty sure I remember it being mentioned that Finnick was born mute, only to have it revealed later that his tongue was cut out. Also, the first chapter specifically refers to Nick's alter ego as "The Fox," to the point where he carves F's into things as his mark. Then at some random point, he is only referred to as "Zorro," and he now carves Z's. However, I am willing to forgive these as mere plot points that evolved during the writing process... though it's telling that the author went into this not knowing how it would end.

There were a few other issues, but it's late and I can't remember. As I said, I thoroughly enjoyed this story, warts and all. As with all fan fiction, even the ones I have written, you look past some things in favor of a well told, engaging story, and this one delivers. I eagerly await whatever else Cimar has to offer us involving our favorite Bun and Fox couple!

This is so very well written and a total page-turner! I couldn't stop reading until I reached the final chapter... you could say, that I inhaled the story in one go. I spent the whole day only reading this!

Your Nick and Judy were just perfect. Love how Judy slowly unravels what is truly going on in Zootopia and changes for the better. And Nick! Oh Nick as Zorro was just wonderful! It fit him very well!

This story was thoroughly entertaining all the way through, and if a sequel is in the works I am very much looking forward to reading it as well. Jack and Skye always make a compelling pair, though obviously not as much as Nick and Judy ;)

This was a fitting end to an amazing story, and though I'm sad to see it end I'm glad to have been along for the journey.

Wow... I did not see that coming. But one advantage of reading this now is that I don't need to wait to read the next chapter!

Standing Ovation for a wonderfully written work of art! I had guessed that Bogo was in some way, behind Bellwether. But poor poor Finnik, he had to look at a naked Bellwether when he sheered her. Ending was practically perfect, and Skye survived as a twist. But will she return as a good or bad character? Only time will tell.

"Don't make him angry, you won't like him when he's angry!" Now, where have I heard THAT chestnut before?
