Kent Rigel chapter 1 . 6/28 Either you know a lot of shit or you did a lot of research. I half suspected I was reading a multi-author collaboration at times there with how detailed the physics, engineering, space operations protocols, legal material, public relations and finally the unnervingly real seeming TV show spots you wrote... I could actually hear the Last Week Tonight segment in John Oliver's voice as I read it, it was that believable. Needless to say that was a damned impressive crossover and story line, thanks for writing it! |
Slayer Anderson chapter 3 . 4/27 Late to the ballgame on this one, but I'd love to see a sequel, if only to that John Oliver sketch when and if Hiro goes public with his superhero ID. John Oliver: "Okay, so! So! Everyone remember that issue in DC comics where Bruce Wayne the billionaire playboy launched himself into space on a rocket his company built and no one put together that he was actually Batman? Even though Batman is the only member of the Justice League that really needs a rocket to get into space? Certainly hundreds, if not thousands, of angry nerds on the internet do! But it turns out, life truly does imitate art!" |
Pikanet128 chapter 3 . 10/4/2017 Very good I loved it Thank you |
Charm Caster1127 chapter 3 . 8/20/2017 This is an amazing story full of great characterization and wonderful use of words. Great job! |
Speed Reader chapter 3 . 5/23/2017 Fantastic story. The characterization was spot on, and the tv shows discussing everything was the icing on the cake. |
Justanuddajoe chapter 1 . 3/31/2017 Well done, really an enjoyable read! Thanks |
Kalaong chapter 3 . 11/10/2016 Awesome, but needs a follow-up. Even if Hiro didn't blab everywhere about how he figured both of those out, anyone with real knowledge of space science knows that he invented several game-changers to get to Mars in less than a year. And if he doesn't publish immediately everyone will know the government essentially stole them from him. How would other nations respond to the US government having a national monopoly on not just cheap clean energy but cheap space access? On top of that, he's still on record for his microbot technology; "What used to take teams of people working by hand for months or years can now be accomplished by one person." That should have gotten him a visit from the same MIBs that won't give him a patent for his super-reactor and spacedrive, for the same "economic stability" reasons. Hell, Baymax himself is an economic game-changer; health care is a major business because skilled labor acts as a chokepoint. Cheap doctors cause just as much economic "instability" as cheap construction, cheap energy, or cheap space access. Hiro is in *deep* trouble. I'm reminded of Tomorrowland; "In every moment there is the possibility of a better future, but you people won't believe it. And because you won't believe it, you won't do what is necessary to make it a reality! So you dwell on this oh, terrible future, you resign yourselves to it. For one reason — because THAT FUTURE DOESN'T ASK ANYTHING OF YOU TODAY. So, yes, you saw the iceberg, warned the Titanic, but you all just steered for it anyway, full steam ahead. Why? Because you WANT to sink." The Powers that Be would prefer to let the world end than change. You should read John Varley's Red Thunder and its sequels; the inventor of a similar technology is essentially imprisoned for the rest of his life in the Falkland Islands as a "security measure" so governments maintain a monopoly on his invention. When the Earth is hit with a cosmic-scale ELE, he eventually has to smuggle himself off the planet in an invention of his own design so those governments don't let him die with it. |
Guest chapter 1 . 10/18/2016 I found this fic on AO3 but it's listed under anonymous? Just wanted to make sure you knew about that. And anyway! I love your characterization of HIRO! He's the perfect bratty genius who definitely has a hero complex :) |
Bolts chapter 3 . 10/12/2016 Absolutely Amazing read! I needed this so much! Thank you 3 |
nightlight.zero chapter 3 . 9/24/2016 This was the crossover I didn't know I wanted, but loved. One of my favourites of yours |
Anon chapter 3 . 9/8/2016 Its amazing how well you captured John and Ellen. I think those two parts had me more amazed then some of the other parts. Well Done. |
Wrangler007 chapter 3 . 9/4/2016 I wanted more Baymax. I liked all the news stuff, John Oliver was hilarious. Hiro's the space baby. Thanks for writing. Can't wait for more HW. |
Wrangler007 chapter 2 . 9/3/2016 Almost didn't notice you posted this all at once. I love how dynamic Hiro's character is in this. The Futurama joke was great. I wish I could have been in the Ellen audience and gotten a hug from Baymax. Don't think I can finish this tonight:(. It's already pretty late for me. |
Wrangler007 chapter 1 . 9/3/2016 Oh wow, this is so well done. Hiro's going to Mars. Really liked the whole thing where Hiro doesn't really see his breakthrough tech as anything more than upgrades for Baymax. Can't wait for more. |
BURN3 chapter 3 . 9/4/2016 I really enjoyed that! Your story was brilliantly written. I can't wait to see what you come up with next. Thank you for all your hard work. |
