Dang it, I knew it would happen and I'm still sad about it but this was a really great story and I'm off to read the sequel now

Your story isn't horrible, but there are a few issues that kind of distract from the reading. First off, Cara's background seems a little too fake. It's not like just anyone can raise foster kids. Anyone who wants to become a foster parent is given a thorough background check, so any drug abuse would come up. And there are always checks by the social workers to make sure the kids are being properly cared for. It feels a little too contrived that Cara ended up in an abusive foster home and was forcefed drugs without anyone ever being the wiser.

Also, HOW can Cara be around the group for so long without a single one of them noticing she's half starving to death? And if she never showers or washes her clothes for weeks at a time, she would REALLY start to stink, and there's no way the human kids wouldn't mention that, especially Miko. You'd think they would do something in an attempt to help her, like making sure she's fed regularly or getting her more clothes to wear. It makes the whole group look really thoughtless and uncaring.

Loved it. I haven't been able to put my laptop away till I finished this story.
