I like it the way it is. Maybe a companion piece or a followup chapter where Maya runs into Riley or someone from the old group and she can tell them she's happy or maybe they realise it on their own, compared to the way she was before. Whatever it's gorgeous and thank you for sharing.

Honestly, I am blown away. This was an incredibly well written and heart wrenching. It portrays the characters and emotions well, and the amount of effort and description you put into this story is brilliant. I am astounded. This deserves so much praise. I don't even know if I've seen any grammar or spelling mistakes, but either way this was beautiful. I loved the ending. I applaud you and your work.
