Neat premise. This is a nice story to read; primarily it's a romance in the BtVS world. The angst focuses on Angelus rather than on Spike's and Buffy's transition into love, which happens somewhat easily, and early in the story. There are enough touchpoints with events from the series that it still feels mostly placed in time, though it's a different story than the one on the show. Kudos to the author for writing a complete story with a new twist on these well-traveled events.

Well, how is it you have so few reviews? It's a nice rewriting and I enjoy it, even if I think that Spike is a little too easy to fall for the Slayer. I would have loved seing him struggling more against that "unholy" concept. :-) because I quite love the early Spike too, snarky, annoying, funny, etc.
However I tend to love the way you begin with a win-win deal that lead them to accept quickly what they normally would have not. There's here a bit more free will than in the "something blue spell" of Willow. Displacing it in season three is clever in my opinion and in order to write a romance, because we all know that the problem with Angelus was more threatening and heavy. And a good reason for them to be serious and motivated in its solving... :-) I hope for next chapters.

She shouldn't feel guilty. She had no way of knowing that Willow had invited Angel in. He only killed her fish. He was molesting Buffy. That seems a bit more urgent.

Gotta wonder just how pissed Angelus is going to be when he can't get in. Unless they had to do the windows too? Lucky Buffy!

How is he getting away with it?

I think Spike will keep up his end of the deal. He wants Dru back. No matter if he can walk again if Angelus still exists Dru won't leave him.
