Good chapter this one. Also Gir, being cute and also a Dark Souls fan in my book, I thought was cool. Keep it up!

Good story so far. Also "Fighting crime with her sisters"? A Powerpuff Girls reference by chance?

I'm glad that the ending stuck with Dib as a vampire. I'm a sucker for bittersweetness, myself, and endings that imply new challenges but also good things. Dib has a renewed bond with his sister and a friendship with Zim that can hopefully ground and sustain him, and Zim is incredibly resourceful - I have this feeling that if Dib wrangled him into it, he'd get his human business partner more blood without forcing him to drain it out of innocent victims.

All in all this story gives me the feeling of THE ADVENTURE CONTINUES! and that's my jam. Thanks for all your efforts. John, again, though he appears briefly, is a great OC who could probably carry several stories on his own.

I have a really hard time writing point-by-point reviews of action sequences, but this chapter is really solid. I love Maria's fear of Zim (magic vs science theme pushed again?! nice!) and Maria's backstory. I like it when we can feel a loss when villains die, a sort of regret for the greatness of the person they could've been, and from the backstory you summarize Maria sounds like an awesome person who could sustain several novels about her life on her own.

Also it's very fittingly iz-like that this epic battle should take place in a corner store.

YESSSS I was hoping honestly that Dib and Zim would wind up working together, as a long-term business arrangement, not a one-time teamup. I had that feeling somewhat, in the chapter when Zim came to see Dib at work. Those two would do amazing, frightening things in business together.

Also I like that Gaz admits she owes Dib an apology too. While Dib did plenty of things to her that were wrong and didn't treat her well, she crossed the line herself and it was nice to see an actual sincere apology, awkward as it was.

One note I loved during this chapter was Zim's stated preference for "honest science." I think that's an interesting echo of Membrane in him and it makes sense that his technology based weaponry and defenses would have a hard time against Dib's magic.

Also, I appreciate this chapter airing out grievances between these three. Obviously it's bad between them right now, but it's a good first step towards them coming to terms with each other. I'm glad Dib stood up for himself, but it was good hearing Gaz's side of things too, and Zim's resentment of his position makes sense with regard to his character.

I'm loving this fic - it's a great take on a future for Dib that's in keeping with the tone of the show - but I admit I've been bad, and reading without reviewing. But when Zim had that exchange with GIR and then gloatingly informed Dib he was feeling "A rush of constipation!" I died and was immediately revived. That exchange is just too good NOT to review for. That exchange is pure Zim. That exchange is solid gold. Thank you.

Sad to see it end, but loved the ride along the way. I like the idea of Dib becoming something paranormal and just embracing that as what he is, instead of self-loathing. Yeah, he tried to turn back, but it didn't work and he's accepting it. I think that's pretty neat. He's now part of the very thing he's been chasing his whole life. Great story. Loved every bit of it

I love how your stories are uncertain, the way that life is. Life is something that may not be good but is dealt with. It gives them a very realistic feel.

I actually like this ending better than the tough of Dib becoming human again, plus its kinda cool thinking that Dib actually got respect and a place where he would sort of fit in.

This was a pretty good ending and the whole, "better person turn back to human" seems a little meh and unsatisfying in a way. This, was much more interesting. Loved the Monroeville Mall reference, take it you're a fan or Romero? Anyway, great story here. You did a wonderful job

I've been hanging onto this fic and this fic idea since its first incarnation probably about a decade back. I think at one point you and I even talked about co-writing it, but I'm glad you finally concluded it AND for the record, the bittersweet live-with-the-consequences-and-do-your-best-from-there-on-out has the CHILD APPROVES stamp marked all over it. This has been a fantastic ride and I'm so glad you did finish this. Great job, Ant. You're still the king. )

Nice conclusion. Especially since it leaves things open for the possibility of a sequel at some point down the line.

And I do like that you kept Dib a vampire and that theme of living with his choices. Very nice thematic touch.
